Robbie Gould or this possible free agent Kicker seem to be our 2 best options

3.5 mil per year is WELL WORTH a PK that you never have to worry about.....but I still think we will make a monumental mistake and sign Crosby. But it's asinine to give up on Maher to begin with.
I’d bring Maher back to camp but I’d also have some competition for him. Real competition
I’d pay 3.5 mil but Jerry likes to go cheap on kicker

I guarantee that whatever demons were in Maher's head have to be long gone by now....to not bring him back is absolutely crazy. What happened to him for two (2) games is the absolute same thing as a golfer getting a case of the shanks. I got them twenty (20) years ago for about a week....figured out why, and wrote down two (2) notes I still carry in my bag that have kept me from doing it again even ONCE since then.

Some of y'all get caught up in names, looking for warm bodies in graveyards. Gould used to be a great kicker. He hasn't been that in recent years, and he's 40. Folk fell off last year at 38, which is why the Patriots drafted a new one.

These Spring leagues are giving younger kickers a chance to show what they can do, and some are doing quite well. I don't want some over the hill guy getting by on reputation, and that most definitely includes Crosby.

I said this afternoon that we would make a huge mistake and sign Crosby....I had a solid hunch 3 months before it happened that the Parcells would sign Drew Bledsoe....hope that I'm not right again.

Robbie Gould and Nick Folk.

I'm guessing the Patriots are going to release Folk soon since they drafted the Maryland Kicker in the 4th Round. New Engalnd would also save $2.2 million in cap space by cutting him.

Also, didn't realize Folk was so old at 38 and had was drafted by the Cowboys back in 2007..

Folk has been really good the last 3 seasons. Surprised the Patriots drafted a Rookie so high considering Folk has been so consistent for them for a few years now.

I'd love to bring both in. Why not have a 3-4 kicker battle? You all know by know who I want also invited to camp. Bring in Gould, Folk, Maher, and one of the kickers from Japan. Let's see who wins that battle.

I hope not as well, but, given his history with McCarthy, I could see it. I wouldn't complain about a kicker battle in camp between him, Maher, Gould, and one of the kickers I really like. However, it'd have to be an open competition where the clear winner gets the job.

Gould is 40 years old and his numbers were worse than Maher last season. He's not what he used to be. Folk is 38 and was also worse than Maher last season.

Get to work and find a young kicker. There are dozens out there every year.

I can think of a prospect or two for camp.

Looks like they already missed out on many of the top undrafted kickers too. Expect some spares for training camp and another veteran journeyman. Maybe Liram Hajrellujah from a few seasons ago

I'd sign Gould and call about Derrick Henry at least. Henry with Pollard and Deuce. Hmmm...use Malik Davis until Pollard is ready. Figure out the rest later

Been thinking about Henry all afternoon...it would be a Philly type move that we don't have the skill to pull off or the stones attempt. It actually could put us close to contention....but Chuckles would be too worried about how it might affect the 2028 season.

I'm all for it. Plus he's only 25 and cheap. Worth a try.

How about Nasho from the Fujitsu Frontiers? https://sports.jp.fujitsu.com/frontiers/players he's a solid kicker in the Japanese X-League. He's accustomed to kicking in conditions most American kickers are not, including on a dual-use stadium for football and baseball. He's got a solid leg, and he won a championship this past season.
