Has Ayers fallen off that much or is this a CAP cut because I recall he was pretty decent

He was a decent rotational guy in 2016, didn't do much last year. Getting up there in age. Don't really think he is much better than what we have. I would much rather get one splash player than a bunch of guys that might help or might suck. We have experimented enough with the Nolan Carroll's of the world.

That has been my desire since the beginning.

It makes no sense to sign three cheap poor players when you can pool the resources and sign one a cut above.

Had a great year in 2015 and it was kind of surprising that in free agency in 2016 that he was one of the last pass rushers on the market and the Bucs got him pretty cheaply compared to what others signed for. It was frustrating for a lot of people because we desperately needed a pass rusher and he would have been a great fit. Last year he wasn't nearly as effective.

Hard to say if he is worth a chance or not. Probably either way we would have people complaining.

After a 9.5 sack season in 2015, he signed a 3 year 19.5 m deal. His cap hit this year would have been 6m. I would think you probably could get him for something in the 4-5m a year range. Or maybe along the lines of what Mayowa got the last go around. I think he would certainly be more effective than Mayowa ever was.

He was right there in the Mincey type signing. We signed Mincey. He went to the Giants, did okay. He was a big reason why the Bucs had one of the league's worst pass rushes last year.

I would not bother signing him. There is pretty much no upside to him.

I however thought he would have been a good signing.
