what are ya'll opinion on him?
I know we had a 6'5 safety before but pat watkins was too skinny and looked timid, he also lacked confidence/swagg. Robert is only 6'4.

Robert Sands is a physical beast but can also cover and isn't afraid to dish out punishment (something our defense lack a killer instinct) and he has swagg/confidence.

What round do you think he goes in 4th?

Nope. Safeties that are that tall simply cannot change direction quick enough to compete in the NFL. Guys like Wes Welker would leave him in the dust.

tru but the coach is dumb to have him one on one vs wes or any quick reciever. Now he can guard tight ends. He is the same size and he has more speed lol.

I like Sands as a SS, they guy can lay a hit unlike Watkins would do. Sands can fly around the field and if you think just because he is 6'4" he can't change direction, thats silly. Hw does WRs with that height do it. I think Sands came out a year early but I think he can be a very good SS.

I've noticed that Sands is kind of a forgotten prospect on these boards. He's not talked bout much.

Personally dont think much of him. May turn out to be ok for some team, doubt its the Boys

I agree... but I was just using that as an example of how WR's who can change direction quickly would give Sands fits.

One reason Bob Sanders was so good IMO is that, being a short guy, he was able to change directions as quickly (or more) as the receivers could.

Change of direction is very important to DB's IMO, and super tall safeties are just too handicapped in that area to be truly good.

His height would be an advantage in some areas, I agree... but overall it would be just too much of a hindrance.

I was interested in him until the combine.

He was very slow in all the drills. He looked awkward and clumsy in the change of direction skills.

I didn't see too many WV games, though. So, I didn't see him in live action. Maybe he plays better on the field.

lol bob sanders coverage is over hyped he is a faster roy williams the only reason he doesnt get bashed is because he doesn't play for the cowboys and he can still make many big hits and has instincts. But you can easily isolate a TE or reciever on him and they will catch the ball. Now can they hold on or drop it cus sanders strikes fear in their hearts is another story.

It would be nice to see somebody, anybody lay the WOOD on the cowboys defense and i keep hearing about this guy so take a flyer on him in the fifth round for that purpose.

I liked Sands early on and feel he could still be a good pro SS, but yeah, the guy is pretty tall.

whats wrong with him being tall?

i wish we had a safety that can dish out punishment....lay the wood or whatever.

Imagine desean jackson going on a deep post just as he make the catch Sands smashes him. Somebody would have to scoop desean off the turf in big D.

Sands could bring some attitude back to big D. We have alot of choir boys on the team.
