The Bucs traded up into the 2nd round to take kicker (yes, kicker) Roberto Aguayo in this year's draft. One GM called it the dumbest pick in the history of the NFL. Now, it would've been dumb even if this guy was as automatic as our own Dan Bailey. But he's not. He's 1 for 3 on the season. All of his kicks were between 40 and 49 yards. He also missed an extra point that ruined their chances of winning last week. Wow. It's kinda hilarious if you ask me. He also missed 2 field goals and an extra point in the preseason.

awesome thread. Are you in Tampa? at least it's warm.

No. I live in Seattle. I just thought it was interesting. I was looking at rookie stats and was surprised how bad this one kicker was. Then I realized he was the guy Tampa traded up into the 2nd for.

And then New Orleans lands a star kicker off the waiver wire.
And, of course, our Bailey was undrafted...like most all kickers.
Drafting kickers is a bit crazy.
Drafting kickers in the 2nd round is job-losing crazy

If S-Bas did not kick the air out of the ball he would not have been taken as high as he was, oh if Al Davis was already dead when he came out also.

1st and second is ridiculous for kickers. But if I know Im getting a Hansen or a Sebass and Im getting and top end kicker for close to 20 years with close to or over 60 yard range, im may pull the trigger in the 3rd or 4th

His Eagles weren't mentioned so he's just lashing out from jealously

Terrible pick...you can't really develop a kicker, they either have it or they don't. And once they lose it mentally, they are done! Justin Tucker and Dan Bailey are arguably the two best in the league and they were undrafted.

Kicker IS a top-5 position on an NFL team IMO but there's really no way you can tell you're getting a great one until they show that they can make kicks in the NFL.

Dude Dan money Bailey is easily worth a 2nd round pick. Kickers aren't football players right? When the game is on the line and we need a 50 yard FG to win or tie I as a fan have !&&!&! Hope...and that's worth a 2nd round pick all day.

Tampa would probably be more upset about their kicker if their QB wasn't such a turnover disaster. Btw that's exactly what I said he would be in the NFL and he could set a record this year, if Fitzpatrick doesn't do it first.

I suppose the Skins' kicker, Hopkins, is worth multiple first round picks, according to Bucs logic. 12-12 baby.

Regardless, you don't spend a high pick on a kicker. They could have picked that dude up in the 4th or 5th easily.
