The 2018 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame contenders list includes:

Bon Jovi
Kate Bush
The Cars
Depeche Mode
Dire Straits
Eurythmics
J. Geils Band
Judas Priest
LL Cool J
The MC5
The Meters
Moody Blues
Radiohead
Rage Against the Machine
Rufus featuring Chaka Khan
Nina Simone
Sister Rosetta Tharpe
Link Wray
The Zombies

I think these 3 should get in now
Bon Jovi
Dire Straits
LL Cool J

These should get in later.
Cars, Depeche Mode, Eurythmics, J.Geils band, Judas Priest

Haven't listened to much of the others listed.

I'm onboard with Bon Jovi and LL Cool J.

Then I'd include:

Moody Blues
The Zombies

And Sister Rosetta Tharpe

Several of the others like Dire Straits, Eurythmics, J Geils and The Cars simply weren't around long enough IMO.

Not that it matters but The Smiths, The Cure and The Replacements not being in makes no sense. Not Including Soundgarden on the ballot makes no sense. All the big seattle acts should be in and so should all the underground/alternative bands like the mats', cure and the smiths.

Paul Westerberg is a better songwriter than almost everyone on this years ballot and I like all those bands/artists.

I don't understand why Judas Priest is not already in. I am surprised actually that they are not. I guess it's because they were one of my favorite rock n roll bands when I young. I just figured they would have been in the HOF years ago, admittedly, I don't keep up with it. How is it that non rock bands can be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame before a REAL rock and roll band?? Head scratcher there.

Jeesh what a horrible list.
And I thought Green Day and Joan Jett getting in were bad.

They are putting in so many acts that before soon most everyone will be in the RRHOF, jeesh cant wait until Poison, Firehouse and Dokken get in.

Bon Jovi in the RRHOF :laugh:right there with the Beatles and Zeppelin and Floyd.......what a joke. Guess making saccharin laden, grown up to close to Mommy, lite rock gets you a look. Don't care if they've been around for however long. I'll admit I did see them around 88 and was just what I expected, forgettable music but the crowd in military terms was what you'd call a target rich environment{lotsa hot chicas}

Here are my 3 that should get in.

And MC5

No way you put those 3 ahead of Depeche Mode.

With you there Kim. I like LL Cool J but he shouldn't go in over an actual rock n roll band that has had some influence on the genre. Like when Tupac went in last year, I can see why due to talent, but he wasn't rock n roll (maybe his lifestyle/political contempt was, etc). Saw they have Run DMC, NWA, Public Enemy, Bob Marley, etc. who all are huge in cultural influence, but not specifically on the rock n roll genre itself. I can see that being patronizing towards rock fans.

I haven't listened to much Zombie stuff, i have heard

Depeche Mode is a shoe-in, Sarek. Judas Preist should be soon, too
I would put Judas Priest in before Depeche Mode.

Well i'm from Jersey so Bon Jovi is a must. I never got into Depeche Mode, when i listen to their music i always find myself stopping it or switching the music to a different band.

Most HoF's are being watered down for sometime now so it really doesn't matter much to me who gets in or not anymore.

1988 was my favorite R&R HoF (Stones) tour followed in 89 (Steel Wheels) which was my first concert ever.

That's exactly right.

And that has to account for something.

I have no problem with bias for or against something but.... this is a no brainer.

Hits in the 80s
Hits in the 90s
Hits in the 00s
Hits in the 10s

To add:
Aerosmith gets great deserved credit for making hits after “their run” years/decade

Overall that's a pretty weak group of candidates. Someone who doesn't deserve to be in will get in. Happens every year. This isn't a new discussion in here but the R-N-R HOF is such a joke.
