Rod Marinelli: David Irving is 'out there eating palm trees'

Rod Marinelli doesn't give compliments often, as rookie Taco Charlton can readily attest.
The first-rounder has drawn the ire of the Dallas Cowboys' fiery defensive coordinator for his lack of impact at points in the preseason and again during the regular season, but if there's someone Marinelli loves to laud -- it's defensive end David Irving. Now back from serving a four-game suspension, Irving professes he was using the downtime to stay in shape, and that included taking boxing lessons as well to help improve his physique and technique.
Now back at practice and preparing for the Green Bay Packers, Marinelli praised Irving's conditioning in a way only he could -- including a fanciful allegation that the veteran pass rusher has been consuming tropical foliage.
"He came in pretty dog-gone good shape," Marinelli said after Thursday's practice, via Brandon George of The Dallas Morning News. "He's bigger. He's out there eating palm trees and stuff, a dinosaur. "He looks solid in practice."...
