Hoping to start a non Dak thread.

Am I crazy or does this guy suck really bad? Seems like everytime he is in the game he is trying to break a big one but he lacks the ability and speed to make anything happen.

For being such a big guy he has a ton of negative plays and doesn't fall forward.

However he needs to be a straight ahead running and we need not pitch it to him or run him out the gun

Zeke is just that good against the looks that these back up scrubs aren’t even getting, because nobody is worried about them..

Smith shows how inept the play calling is. Zekes constant positive plays out of negative situations masks the issues we have with Linehan. Constantly he's caught in backfield but somehow makes a bunch of yards

Rod Smith is a big back with some speed, but he's strictly a north-south runner and he really doesn't have great run vision. Remember, he hardly saw any carries at Ohio State because he was behind Carlos Hyde and Zeke there, too. And he entered the NFL as a fullback. So experience is another factor.

If you give Smith a big crease he can do some damage because of his size and burst. But he tries to break every run for a long gain instead of just putting his head down and getting three or four yards.

I'm no scout, but that's my observation.

Having another back with some speed and playmaking ability would do wonders for this offense. If we had someone like that who could touch the ball 6-10 times a game by run or pass and of course be a solid pass protector when needed it would be a great help to Dak. Especially if we roll with the TE group we currently have.

Update!!! Haven't you heard, We have the future in waiting Hall Of Fame running back of all time in Darius Jackson, just waiting to unleased on the league!!

Can't really judge him on a couple of runs per game. Give him 20 and see what he can do . He's shown up in the past.

His brother looked more like a RB today, but I don't know if we can judge Rod fairly by the plays he's been given. Most of the time, he seems to be hit behind the LoS.

There are plenty of “change of pace” backs in the league that can make something out of little to zero carries

Rod is just a damn full back running into the back of linemen’s backs because he has ZERO vision or short area quickness

Rod is average but when the o-line was intact, he would break one for 40-60 yds to the house quite often. Now teams almost know that when he comes in he’s getting the ball and he gets met behind the line by defenders, this is where Zeke makes something out of nothing..

He’s decent in my book...
