That is something too few people know to do. You should never talk to the police, ever, no matter how innocent you know you are.

There are so many laws out there, you may admit to breaking one without knowing it and there are so many details that you can get slightly wrong that you can easily incriminate yourself DESPITE TELLING THE TRUTH AS YOU REMEMBERED IT.

Never volunteer to talk to the police unless you're the one making the accusations.

Its interesting how that's what people have come to.

I'm a first-hand victim of police brutality and police making crap up. Something needs to change.

I hate foot soldiers, I mean cops. They're a bunch of idiots. The smart citizens pay the price.

No cops pictured with Ben Roethlisberger involved in probe

The police chief in Milledgeville, Ga., acknowledged on Friday that some of his officers posed for photos with Ben Roethlisberger on the night the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback was later accused of sexual assault. Other than one of the officers filing the initial incident report, the chief said none of them has been involved in the ongoing investigation.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has the right to remain silent. And he's exercising that right fully and completely.

Milledgeville, Georgia police chief Woodrow Blue has told TMZ that, while the investigation regarding the March 4 claim of sexual assault against Roethlisberger is complete, they'd still like to talk to the accused. But Ben ain't talking.

And so prosecutors will have to decide whether to prosecute Roethlisberger without any further input beyond whatever he said during a brief interview at the scene of the alleged incident.

Meanwhile, the Court of Public Opinion will likely continue to suspect that Ben's decision not to talk flows from an effort to conceal the truth.

way to push that agenda Mike.......loser gossip columnist....

I agree with others...while i do respect police and the law ..the cops will do anything to get you to admit a crime (or at least incriminate yourself) ....guilty or innocent.....tell them only "talk to my lawyer"...innocent and gullible people get scared into saying something stupid all the time.....unless you know the law DONT TALK EVER

This is exactly why you shouldn't talk to the cops. Investigators aren't stupid.

People have given a bunch of good advice in this thread. You don't know the law as well as police investigators do, so might as well leave it up to the lawyers.

Also, if an officer pulls you over for a drunk stop and asks you to do some field sobriety tests. It's within your rights to decline.
