Rolando McClain-LB- Player Mar. 10 - 2:02 pm et

Alabama ILB Rolando McClain ran 4.71 and 4.74 forty-yard dash times at the Crimson Tide's Pro Day Wednesday.

The relatively slow times might be concerning if McClain was being targeted by 4-3 teams that ask middle linebackers to play sideline to sideline, but he's likely to stay in a 3-4 as a banging "Mike" or "Ted" 'backer. McClain's draft stock, believed to be in the top 13-18 range, is unlikely to be severely impacted.

He'll be gone by mid teens. Could be another Ray Lewis type.

Pffft...He has slow 40 times, he is a slow over rated player and he should fall to the cowboys at the 27th pick and we take him and do a happy dance.:laugh1:

This is good. I heard he was already getting bad mouthed by some of the NFL teams for not working out at the combine.

Never say never when it comes to a player who is projected to go mid round falling to the late 1st.

Teams will reach for players. It happens every year.

dont see his times being a big deal, everyone knew he wasnt a speed burner. 4.7 is about average for a guy his size.

And he plays quicker than that on the field in games.

I hope he's gone before that. I don't want to see the Giants or Steelers get this kid.

I haven't seen this posted yet. So, ...

"Tide LB discloses non-football illness… Star Alabama MLB Rolando McClain stunned the pro scouting fraternity when he disclosed after he became ill during the Tide’s pro day today that he has had Crohn's Disease, an inflammatory intestinal condition, since his freshman year in high school. McClain reportedly treats the condition with medication and obviously has been able to play with it a very high level to date, however, its certain to be a major red flag for pro teams heading into the 2010 draft at which McClain had been rated as a top 10-15 prospect. McClain also indicated that he has been dealing with a hamstring issue since October, but still ran well enough at today's on-campus workout, posting unofficial 40 times of 4.71 and 4.74."

I don't care what his times where or any of that. Put on the tape. The kid can just flat out play. That's where you find out about a football player anyway. On the friggen field, in pads, against competition.

I couldn't care less about all this flash and BS of a shorts and T-shirt workout against air.

This kid can go. Period. If he fell to us and wound up with a star on his helmet I'd be beyond thrilled.

Was about to post this.

It's concerning to say the list. I'm amazed he can even play football with that.

Doesn't the Jaguars QB, David Garrad, play with this same condition?

Even if he does, it has to limit him in some way. And he's not half as active on the field of play as McClain is.

I've had people say playing any sport is nearly unbearable with that. It's that bad.
