Ok..
First..we have Hudson Houck. Excellent job of scheming the blocking and working in Proctor against some tough DL for his first start. This is going to have to stay at least this good until Kosier returns or they get Holland ready, if indeed Proctor doesn't remain inthe lineup. So a Blue Star to Houch.
Second..we have Todd Grantham, our DL line coach. We'll never know how much his knowledge of the Cleveland offense and defense help in our gameplanning, but you have to suppose it was substantial. And, his defensive line was solid overall and controlled the LOS for the most part. I think we will need a better pass rush in the weeks to come, but it was a solid debut as our new DL coach. Also a Blue Star to Mr. Granthum, welcome to Dallas.
Third..a new old name..Dave Campo. Considering like Houck, he had a starter out in TNew and was working with a bunch of new rookies in the various nickle and dime packages..that had to make for some adjustments before and during the game..I felt things looked pretty good.
I never saw anything that resembled the coverages we played last year but maybe that is because Jacque Reeves is now with the Texans and RW is spending more time talking to the bench population than before. Whatever. But a deserved Blue Star for Mr. Campo in his return debut with the Cowboys.
These are three more important acquisitions in our off-season that don't get as much notariety as the other players we signed or re-signed..
..but yesterday, each paid dividends in their roles and Jerry Jones made smart moves to get them here.
The big question, considering who they replaced, will they make enough difference over the course of the season to get their players to the next level..?
And I think the ST also deserves a Blue Star, too, whose coach Bruce Read, has been under a lot of fire lately with the play during the summer of his units. While not a new coach, he might as well be invisible unless there are problems. So good job there, too. Here's your invisible Blue Star.
Good job.
