Listen to the press conference.
Parcells is not giving up on the season.
He knows what Bledsoe is going to give him. 9-10 wins, defeats against good teams and even if they make the playoffs, a quick exit.
Listen to his specific points on DB:
1. Hinted Bledsoe is not making quick reads to get rid of the ball
2. Hinted Bledsoe is not adjusting routes at the LOS when he gets a blitz look
3. Hinted Bledsoe is making too many poor decisions at key points -- especially under pressure
Why go to Romo? Parcells isn't sure if Romo will do better, but he is a desparate coach who wants to end his career with a great season. He isn't sure but he is hopeful Romo will provide the additional surge in playmaking necessary.
This is the logic:
1. Bledsoe has not made teams pay for the blitz AT ALL.
2. A pattern has emerged. Teams blitz and stunt. Bledsoe doesn't read it (and the oline sucks). We turn the ball over
3. The pattern continues with DB.
Enter Romo -- who Parcells says is a 'different kind of QB'
1. Can he side step enough blitzers and make plays down the field?
2. Will he be able to make quick reads, adjust play calls and hit open RCVRs to beat the blitz and make significant yardage after the catch?
Will he able to make enough big plays to stop the pattern of continuous blitzes and pressure? If so, the offense will again be on the offensive against of the defensive.
It is a calcuated risk. He isn't sure it will work. But he thinks there is a chance Romo can change the dynamics on offense and take the team deep into the playoffs or the SB.
The pattern wasn't going to stop with DB.
