Romo and TO had this connection. TO was a fool and older however. Romo and Dez are gonna be a wicked combo. I suspect many double teams coming his way which open up so much for Miles and Witten etc...

Crazy how it just clicked for Dez mid-season last season. He went from athletic freak who made a lot of mistakes on his route adjustments to unstoppable freak, overnight.

I remember reading in the offseason about the quality of CBs he played against in those last 8 games last season (there weren't many good cover guys in that group) and thinking it might make things more challenging than we expect for Dez this year, but he's beating everybody, and catching everything, whether he's open or not. He's really taken it to that elite WR level.
Miles looks to be back healthy, too. If Williams is an outlet anything like Robinson was in 2011, we're going to be tough to defend this season.

Yeah, it's a given that he's doubled. But teams like to double Witten, too, and you don't really want to isolate your slot CB on Austin because he's strong enough with the ball in his hands to slip that first tackle. If the protection holds up for Tony, it really puts teams in a bind on defense. Throw a fast TE into the mix that you can flex out wide, and you make the slot coverages even harder to anticipate.

That is a heck of a prediction, TO stretched the field like few others ever have in 2007. I'm hoping you're right, but I'd just be happy to see him play consistently and put up numbers close to what he had last year.

I don't think the final 8 game last season was just a hot streak i think that's how good Dez really is and he's only going to get better, if you take that kind of production over the course of a full season he'll shatter cowboys receiving records. Only thing i can see that can stop that from happening is injuries

I don't mind a double team on Dez.. especially when we run a two tight end set. Especially with Austin lining up opposite Dez (Although he plays better in the slot) Run a Witten Hannah Combo on routes over the middle. Then with Murry blocking in the backfield it will help Romo in pass coverage.

Yeah, I don't want to see the Cowboys offense simply take what the defense gives them. That's usually a sound strategy but I don't think that's good use of a truly elite weapon like Dez Bryant. You have to have special rules for special players, IMO.

If Austin and Murray can stay healthy (signs look good right now with no nagging hammys) then we are going to burn double teams.

What will be even scarier is when you go 3 wides with witten leaking out and running back doing the same if the looks the line the holds. Whoever the 3rd WR is going to get a lot of favorable match ups. Roll coverage to Dez, everyone else will be pretty much man to man, austin is good enough to beat 75% of the DB in the league, Witten will find a hole, Williams or harris can be Harper or Kevin williams respectively, murray could be what Emmitt was early in his carrier as a pass catcher if not better.

I felt like even early last year, Romo didn't trust Dez. Now, you can tell it's there. That back should fade can be run at any point in the game and it's unstoppable.

I said it with Roy Williams back in the day and I'll say it again with Miles Austin. TO afforded you to have single coverage so take advantage of it and Williams couldn't. Now Dez will afford you to have mostly single coverage, because Austin will be coming out of the Slot where it's harder to double cover, so it's up to Miles to have a career year. For people to respect that slot, we need Williams or Harris to occasionally do something on the other side.

If those last 2 things happen, then Houston, we have a problem. If they decide to go Nickle or Dime all the time, Murray or Dunbar should have a break out season. Either way, if we don't learn to kill idiotic offensive penalties, none of this will matter. On the other hand, if our Center and Guards to keep the middle pocket clean, LOOK OUT!
