But I strongly feel like this team-with a decent draft-is rapidly heading into contender level.
Not happening without upgrades to the trenches and depth.

Elway won zillions of playoff games and went to MULTIPLE Super bowls before Shanahan, and finally at the end, he won 2.

How do you compare that to a QB with 1 playoff victory? Never mind.

The reason so many people hate Romo lovers is because they simply don't care whether he wins or not, they just like him. This Romo character will go down as the biggest loser in franchise history if you add how long he played.

Tom Landry would absolutely be embarrassed of this new generation fan base today.

Percentages should go up from 1 playoff win over last 7 years. There should be at least 2 playoff events ,and due to the fact the past 7 seasons have been total choke jobs . This should not happen any more according to the last press releases.

The chances should go way down on being in clutch situations when the team doesn't perform well. Yeah ok it doesnt make sense but comon they were a FG away from beating the Superbowl Chumps Ravens.

This is a great signing by Jerry. Remember that Elway didn't win superbowl until his mid 30's. I don't know if Romo is going to win a superbowl but what I know is that is he is a great quarterback. Remember that Elway got to several superbowls when the AFC was very weak; he didn't win one until the broncos had a strong running game plus a great defense. Elway made several super bowls in the 80's but that was due to the weakness of the ACF.

Romo is a great QB. He is capable of winning a Super Bowl.

Elway took some very mediocre Denver teams the a superbowl on his back... and took his lumps doing it.

The late 80s Broncos had one of the best defenses in the league. Fletcher, Mecklenburgh, Kragan, Atwater and Smith made Phillips his early name.

Elway was a great QB, debatable top 5 all time. Romo is a very good QB with some big game meltdowns. Elway's arm was a cannon.

After reading all 3 pages I can't believe this thread or people supporting the OP opinion.
Elway was a football great, in any era. Romo's above average at best based on his body of work thus far......and I like Romo.
Romo is the tied for 3rd, at best, as a cowboy QB behind Roger and Troy. He might be as low as 5th behind Danny White and Dandy Don.
I have Romo rated 5th just as Cowboys QB's. The other 4 won playoff games and had the Cowboys in championship games.

Elway is one of the top 5 qbs of all time, personally I think he is the best of all time. I say that with Staubach as my favorite QB of all time. I say that because he took very mediocre teams to the superbowl and one two with good teams. He certainly didn't have the QB friendly system of Montana and Young, or Rice to go with it, or Bill Walsh orchestrating everything.

To even mention one playoff win, turnover machine, choke artist Romo in the same sentence as Elway is a joke.
