did you notice Romo calling more audibles today than usual? He was giving the "neck slash" (don't know a better way to call it) much more than I remember before.

Question.....how much input does the QB have on audibles? Can Romo enact his own play calling through audibles? Just asking

Romo can audible whenever he wants. Generally it changes it from a pass to a run or vise versa.

I'm sure he has options for whatever he sees the defense line up in.

I would think every successful QB in the league does that. And, IMO, Romo is one of the best.

Dallas usually has 2 plays called when they go to the line so Romo audibles a lot every week.

I don't like it sometimes because it's hard to get in a rhythm IMO but some of those audibles were big plays for us.

He needs to be the one calling most of the plays.

Uh..ya think??

pretty much the gist of my original question is if Romo can enact his own play calling through audibles or if audibles and the extent of his ability to audible are scipted for him too?

Now, that is a qood question. I wonder how many options are given to Romo on any given play.

I know that sometime two play are called and Romo has the option to change it...however, I don't know if Romo has the option to disregard both of the two plays and then just run the play the he wants.

Heres an article about that. Garrett gives him two plays and Romo decides which one depending on what the defense is showing.

Hasnt he always done that???

The Cowboys beat the crowd noise and the Texans by having Tony Romo pick his play. Jason Garrett gave Romo a pair of plays to call in the huddle, and Romo audibled to the one he liked after seeing the Texans defense.

It seemed to me that there was an extraordinary amount of communication between Romo and Gurode before each play. Tony would point, lean over and talk to Gurode, point again, etc. It seemed to increase after Kosier went out.

Cowboys let Romo call the plays... sort of

"He played great," tight end Jason Witten said. "He got us in so many great looks. We were calling two plays and were playing off what the defense was giving us. That starts with him and how he manages that, and that’s not always easy on the road."
