2012 NFL Free Agency: Former Cowboys Cornerback Terence Newman To Visit Bengals

Mar 19 4:57p by Field Yates
Read More: Terence Newman (CB - DAL), Dallas Cowboys
The Cincinnati Bengals announced that four players - including former Cowboys cornerback Terence Newman - will be hosted for free agent visits.
The move makes sense for Newman, as the Bengals defense is coordinated by Newman's former defensive boss and position coach, Mike Zimmer. Beyond that, Cincinnati is looking to add depth as standout corner Leon Hall battles back from an Achilles' tear.
Newman was released by Dallas earlier this offseason after struggling in 2011 and with a lofty salary scheduled for 2012.
In nine seasons with the Cowboys, Newman amassed 542 tackles and 32 interceptions. He was originally drafted in the first round of the 2003 NFL draft out of Kansas State.

If he goes there for cheap and strictly as depth, I don't think it's a bad move for Cincy.

Seem to remember former cowboys scrubs getting over on us....see bobby carpenter.

A small part of me hopes that we win but Newman has three picks just to shut everybody up.

Way to go. Now everyone will be whining about Romo.

That's what would happen if we were to lose that game. They'd turn on Romo like they did after the Lions game.

He was a moron in the Lions game. But I don't think the Lions game is indicative of his career, nor is it the reason for our franchise's woes in the past decade.

Oh, he blew that game. No doubt. I know you get what I'm saying, but to be clear, I'm only talking about the way people turned on him as a player after that. When they play long enough, QBs are going to single handedly blow games from time to time. It just can't happen very often.

In my best Aussie commentary, "Fair dinkum," emp. T-New did his due for the better part of his career in Dallas.

I wish him the best as he tries to find the best finish to his NFL career. Sorry it couldn't have ended on a more UP note w/ the Cowboys. Maybe there's a chance for a measure of pride regained in his next uniform.

If Newman turned out to start for the Bengals all season, his best game prob would be against us. He does know Tony's tendencies, playbook (to an extent), practiced against our offense a lot. Now if he did start against Dallas and sucked big time, then his career is for sure over.

didnt we say that about Hunter

And that should have happened. Unfortunately, that day Parcells had one of the dumbest gameplans I have ever seen. "Let's see...the Seahawks have a terrible secondary so let's not throw much against them...keep it real conservative. Can't trust that young QB I've got...even though he is a huge reason we are in the playoffs." When he finally opened up the offense, Romo took them right down the field. Parcells thought he was being smart, but he was just playing scared and stupid.

Part of you hopes? So the other part, hopes we don't?

Huge day eh?

Why would that be? We will simply run our offense strictly based on down & distance. I am guessing you are thinking that we will have a complete philosophy change and attack an opponents glaring weakness. Got news for ya, my 90 yr old grandmother could line up at RDE, and we'd still run the other way at LEAST 50% of the time. Have you been watching the games the last few seasons?

The same thing was repeated here on CZ about Bobby Carpenter before the Lions game....

He had a pick-six and was a big role in the Cowboys losing the game.

Need to be careful about what you wish for...
