Tony Romo thinks Dez Bryant is “misunderstood”

When Tony Romo quarterbacked the Cowboys, he had the chance to work with some receivers known for their big personalities as much as their big plays.

But in discussing Terrell Owens and Dez Bryantrecently, Romo said the current Cowboys star is “misunderstood.”

Bryant’s employment has been the subject of constant speculation this offseason, with the Cowboys apparently uncomfortable with his $12 million price tag and some of his antics in the past. But during a podcast with Cowboys radio host Brad Sham (via the Fort Worth Star Telegram), Romo defended Bryant.

“As far as personality between the two, they’re also a little bit different,” Romo said. “I think Dez is misunderstood in a lot ways. I know there a times where he can get talking and be volatile on the sideline and stuff, but a lot of it is positive. I’ve had every receiver who wants the ball. I think what you’ll find is there’s so many personalities on the football field. When the receivers are more demonstrative on the sideline and stuff, they’re just more demonstrative than offensive linemen. But people can be pouty in different ways. They can do anything in different ways. They just are vocal sometimes where you can see it on camera

Bye, bye Dez! Thompson’s out for blood!

Why do you pay Dez another 15+M$ next season? Because he’s expected to go for 1400 and 12 Tds? If not, then how is that money helping the team?

Romo played golf yesterday. Seems like that back and collarbone gotten a lot better. I don’t even like golf but i watched it to support Romo and his fluidity and motion seems fine. I think he can play another year of football. We should shoot him an invite before he gets seriously invested in pga golf. This might be our last shot to get Romo back!!!

Romo held a press conference to tell the world he would not play football again for the Dallas Cowboys but there remains that flicker of hope he will do what some fans would like for him to do. It is similar to the belief that he will become a coach one day--even though he has thrown (pun intended) himself into an entirely different career and has not really voiced a great motivation for coaching. Still, it is nice to see some are not bound to the falsehood that Romo was/is near paralysis and the next puff of wind will force Candice to feed him apple sauce 24/7. lol

Dez must return this season. Even if we draft a wr, that’s small $, and Dez will still be our best receiver. I expect him to have a good year, better than Sammy Watkins will have. If our young WRs come on strong, then maybe we let him go next year, but this year, even at 12 million, along with what other receivers are getting, you keep him and use him.

If the OL stays healthy, I think the offense has a big year.

Nah, why would I take Romo's word over people that played 15 years ago (assuming they played at all)?

gonna be too funny to watch y'all jump back on his jock....
Not gonna happen..........I'll be happy when he successfully does what he's paid very well to do......praise comes when you exceed expectations which he hasn't done for years........it's not just this fanbase that has noticed the drop off in production it's the media, and other players from other teams as well, teams no longer see the need to double cover him on every play, he's just an average WR..........on a good day.

Dez weaknesses were always out there. They’re just more exposed with Dak.

Meanwhile, there's no overboard drama with most of the other elite receivers in the league.

I've grown to like Dez, but there's no question that he'll quit on you in the middle of a game by getting so emotionally worked up that he can't function. He also drains his energy with all that, which often makes him too gassed in the fourth quarter.

I think Stephen is tired of it, and he's ready to shed that salary and cap hit.
