since we lost murray, i think we put the entire season on 9 and let him take us to the promise land. Hes playing his best football of his career, what he did agaisnt the Vikings defense without DEZ or ZM was nothing short of spectacular. I want to throw it 30 to 40 times a game, we have a great WR group. agree or disagree with me?

I don't believe in any team that approaches the game to throw 40 times as their base strategy. THat includes teams like Green Bay or Indy. It may do it in the regular season, but you'd better be more than a one trick pony.

So no.

Lets go from being balanced to one dimensional based on a quarter and a half of a preseason game

tried that arena football thing throwing it 30-40 and even 50 times a game with Romo, where did that get us!!

Running the ball, controlling the clock, balanced attack, protecting the defense wins games, not throwing it more!

There's a HUGE difference between throwing it 30 and 40 times a game. Maybe narrow it down some?

Romo threw it about 30 times a game (actually 29) last year.
In the 2012 he was forced to throw it 40 times a game but everyone knew that was too much...it's just the run game and defense sucked.
The sweet spot is probably in the 32-35 range, if we want to keep a decent balance.

If not for Rodgers having one of the best years of any QB, ever, last season, Romo would have won the MVP throwing 29 times a game anyways.

If Romo throws 40 times a game say hello to 8-8 again. The whole purpose of the running games was to take some of the load off Romo and the D.

Taking some of the load was one reason. Having a running game helps with play action, controlling the clock and keeping the defense a little fresher among other things. Any QB in the league would love having an effective running game and the most successful ones usually have one.

I think we will throw it more this year. I think we will do something like 55% pass and 45% run. Only because I think we will utilize the effectiveness of both Beasley and McFadden in the short passing game. In reality they will be just long hand offs but still count as a pass.

Randle looked like garbage vs Minnesota and I have no clue how many games DMC can play this year.

I love having Tony Romo and believe in him as a QB but I still think in this style of offense that balance is the key to overall team success.

If the Cowboys put the entire 2015 season on #9 they'll be sitting home for the playoffs like they did the 3 previous seasons prior to last year when it was all on him. Romo had the season he had last year because he had a lot of help from Murray and the running game. The entire season wasn't put on his shoulders and it led to his most efficient season ever. Had Romo not thrown 3 int's on opening day vs SF he would have had the all-time highest passer rating for a season and if he had one fewer incompletion he would have completed 70% of his passes becoming only the 6th QB to ever accomplish that. Romo won't have as good a season in 2015 if he's back having to shoulder most of the load. With him aging and his mobility not what it was it's going to take a total team effort for the Cowboys to be the team they were last season and have the chance to surpass it.
