Romo gets a three game pass

If Dallas loses the next three games, and Romo shows steady improvement, I'm happy with our chances.

Look, if he quits throwing crappy screen passes while getting sacked, Dallas might have had a chance to beat the Giants. His mobility is an asset, once he settles a little bit, then he'll patiently make the right throws. Then, hopefully by week three, Romo learns not to make those red zone int's, and Dallas will be a playoff contender. Bledsoe would give the 'Boys more wins this year, but wouldn't be able to advance in the playoffs. Romo has an outside shot of making it to the playoffs, and if Dallas gets there, well.....

who knows?

Romo will have a lot more experience, and hopefully, a little more patience with the ball. He's certainly a gunslinger, but if he just cuts his rookie throws in half, Dallas might have a chance.

I'll give it to the Giants, though, they played great defense despite havint lost three starters in the first half. But I'll tell you this, Romo's success could spark this team, offense AND defense... Stay tuned, but be content with Romo's growing pains over the next three games... it's not much time, but he at least deserves that much.

Totally wrong on the Bledsoe = more wins.

Monday night I would agree that Bledsoe gives us the best chance to win games now.

But today, I don't agree.

To date, he's posted a 69.2 QB rating, completed around 53% of his passes, and thrown more INTs than TDs.

We saw this from Vinny, QC, and even Hutch. What makes you think Romo can't at least put those numbers up?

Again, I'm more worried about our defense not performing up to it's potential.

It takes a very special type of person to want Bledsoe to come back in at this point.

Special as in 'rode the short bus to school' special.

A 3 game pass until what? We put the statue back in? You gotta be kidding me.

The combined records of the next three opponents is 7-14. I don't think there is any way possible we don't go at least 2-1. After that will be the test for Romo.

Why? Bledsoe is 0-3 against winning teams

Really? Wow. I didnt know teams only suited up 1 person now. I need to get out from under my rock.

Seriously though. Not one person on the team has shown up when it mattered so far either.

A few quick thoughts:

I think this team must go 3-0 over this stretch to have any hope of making the playoffs. To me, the Cowboys must go 10-6 to get in -- and even that won't guarantee a spot. 2-1 might allow the team to ultimately reach 10-6, but I'm not so sure. I don't think they can realistically win all but two of their last seven games with teams like Philly, New York, Indy and New Orleans on the horizon.

I also don't think Romo gets a three-game pass. Parcells is playing Romo in hopes of us actually winning games, not losing them. If he'd be content with subpar performance during this road trip, he'd have simply stayed with Bledsoe.

Also, for Romo's own long-term future here, this stretch is important. Every game is going to be picked with a fine-tooth comb this offseason to assess whether he can be "the guy." He can't have too many shoddy performances on his record, IMO.

He's young and he's going to make mistakes. But he's also a four-year veteran and shouldn't necessarily look like a rookie out there. First-year starters will make first-year mistakes. But, as a four-year vet, he should also look polished and poised at times.

EDIT: To add to my "I think this team must go 3-0" comment...this Carolina game, to me, instantly becomes the biggest game of the year. Win this, and suddenly the road trip doesn't look so daunting with Washington and Arizona coming up. Lose this, and the pressure mounts and those games seem a little more intimidating.

Dale, I understand your thinking, but it's an awful lot to ask of a kid never starting a game before to go into Carolina and win. I know he's not alone out there but this is not going to be easy. If he plays well and tries to force a pass late and we lose, I will still have some hope as we go forward.

No doubt though, a win in Carolina would be huge. :starspin

I agree, lspain. I don't "expect" Romo to win Sunday. But I think anything short of a 3-0 road trip is going to make it darn hard to make the playoffs. And believe me, I know a 3-0 road trip is hiiiiighly unlikely.

....but, 'tis the road the team has sowed thanks to this 3-3 start. Pretty much gotta go 7-3, at worst, the rest of the way.

Like I said, 2-1 might still be good enough. But gotta think that 2-1 would quickly become 2-2 with Indy coming right up, meaning, by my suggested playoff mark, the team could only lose one game the rest of the way if they did indeed go 2-2 over the next four.

Not sure a 5-5 team here could suddenly end the season 5-1, but I guess ya never know.

Again, I know the playoffs are slipping out of reach and could soon be an impossibility. Just sayin' what I think would have to be done to make it a possibility.

The break has already happened! It took place after halftime on Monday night. The sky is officially no longer falling.

look he threw for 227 yards in one half and had 3 td's! if he played the whole game even with the mistakes we would have scored 6 times and probably won!
