Romo in decline?

I hope that is what Dallas does. It's not a sign that Romo is done in Dallas, just that when he is gone, Dallas doesn't go through what it did in the early 2000's..

Ughhh.. Most fans think NOW this is bad?? Puhhhhlease.

No doubt. When Meredith was here was had Morton, when Morton took over we had Roger, when Roger took over we had Danny. Took years before Troy came in and after Troy left we ended up doing what Landry did which was go through a series of QB. I would rather see a young draft pick sit and learn and be groomed to take over

With the way things are in Dallas, I fear Tony Romo won't see a Super Bowl, much less a NFC Championship. Not in Dallas, that is. :(

Tony Romo is having his worst year in what is BY FAR Jason Garretts most pathetic attempt at putting together a running game in his tenure. Surprise, surprise.

Ditto. I think that ship sailed about 3 years ago.

I like Romo, but there is NO WAY his contract should be extended. We need to look forward.

I would expect to learn as much from this thread as I did in the one that discussed Witten's age and declining skills.

I don't think Romo went from a 31tds and 10int season to 9 months later struggling through 9tds and 13int because of rapidly declining skills. The offense as a whole is struggling and it's reflecting in his stats.

I favor the argument that he doesn't have as strong a supporting cast as in the past and the results are consequently down.

Go look at the stats Montana, Marino, Fouts, etc, etc. Almost to a tee their statistics started to show a slow but steady decline in the age 32-34 timeframe. Its the NORM.

That doesn't mean those players sucked in the mid-30's necessarily -- it did mean however that team could't always rely on them to put the team on their shoulders and win every game.

There are a few exception to this rule -- most notably Manning and Favre, however, I'd argue those two were/are both once in a decade talents that continue putting up big numbers despite diminished skills.

While there is no quantified evidence that Romo's game is sliding due to age setting in, I don't think it can be totally discounted either.

If Felix doesn't fumble the game away in the 4th quarter are people asking this question still or are they giving the guy credit for playing pretty good in the 2nd half?
