I think it is a given that Romo makes our offense better. He actually spread the ball around, he made plays with his feet when he needed to (yet he isn't a run-first QB), and he fires up everyone.
And that excitement will carry over to the defense. My thought in the middle of the 3rd quarter was that the defense was just out of it. They had no excitement, no enthusiasm. That happens when you get a fumble on the opponents 20, and your QB throws the ball away.
This defense is not a bad defense, it is an above-average defense. We will never have a lot of sacks, we aren't built like that. We have pretty good coverage and that coverage produces coverage sacks. When we blitzed tonight we got beat.
The thing is this, did you notice as soon as Romo led the team on a scoring drive at the end of the 3rd, the defense got its heart again? They played with a passion and went with one of the few 3 and outs all night.
Romo excudes that confidence and excitement, and not only does that pump up the offense and make them believe in him, but it gives the defense an excitement as well. Romo makes the entire team better.
