If you think about it. It's a possibility.

Say Romo has a very good season as he did in 2014. He had the best QB rating and the Cowboys went 12-4. If he repeats that success and Dallas goes deep, like at least the NFC Championship game, he would be a serious contender. Especially because the other 52 guys could not win without him last year.

Realistically, who in the league means more to their team than Romo? His play could be a 10 game swing in the win/loss column. If he leads Dallas past Green Bay, Cincy and Pittsburgh by mid season?

Could happen.

It's a lot to ask anyone to play at that level again. But yes, if he did it and the team had great success, I guess it's possible.

Its a nice thought, but I doubt it. The reason he didnt win it in 2014 was because Murray went for over 2k yards and 15Td's. I expect similar numbers out of the Zeke this year or at least the running game overall. QB's that have the best run game in the NFL dont win the MVP award.

Excellent memory... as a matter of fact Warner and Faulk alternated the MVP for 3 straight years there.

Having said that I actually agree with the thought that if you simply split Murray's totals into 2 RBs of a RBBC then he would have won. I'm actually still mystified that Rodgers won anyway, he basically won the MVP because the Chicago Bears were a very, very bad team.

The blueprint for winning MVP usually starts with having the best record in the league so unless they are able to pull that off (I have my doubts) then most likely no.

Comeback Player of the Year, Yes.

NFL MVP? They'll find a way to give that award to anybody but Romo. Sportswriters that have spent the vast majority of Romo's career bashing him will never find it in their hearts to give him his due; no matter what he does.

Well even Romo doesnt care about being mvp or other awards, Romo wants to get past div round, and to SB.
That is all he cares about.
He has plenty of records and awards, but they wont mean much unless he can at least get to a SB, or lol a Conf. championship game.
Tony only cares about that one goal , get to playoffs and win & get to nfc conf champ game.

He has never played in a conf champ game, so that is a priority.
He could care less about mvp awards.

Kurt Warner disagrees with you

You actually found one example. Im not sure that qualifies as disproving my point.

And a few things of note in regards to Warner. The two years he won it his stats were better than Romo had in 2014

1999= 4450 yards and 42 TD's

2001= 4890 yards and 36 TD's

Both of those years are better than anything Romo has ever had. I still dont think Romo wins the MVP with 4300 yards and 32 TD's

And Marshall faulk ran for about 1300 yards and averaged 9 or 10 rushing TD's those years. Hardly leading the NFL in rushing.

Where Faulk excelled was his dual threat in the passing game. One of those years he had 1000 yards receiving and another 12 receiving TD's

MVP has a lot to do with what you mean to your team. Stats are only a part of that. Cam Newton was in the middle of the pack as a QB, only averaged 230 yards a game passing.

They were 15-1 as a team and he rushing for something like 800 yards and 13 TD's last year as a QB. And dont bother telling me that rushing stats dont count. The MVP has nothing to do with passing stats only.
