Romo needs a pitch count or Playoffs/SB is unrealistic

I'm a firm believe the Cowboys can win with Romo, but he must and I mean must have a pitch count. Tony should never throw more than 28 times in a game. A Romo friendly offense is a running game. The OL is soft plain and simple due to too many passes and if you suggest that the running game was poor today on 16 carries, you're wrong. The running game is poor and OL is soft because of finesse passing oriented game plans.

Today kills every theory that we pass because we're always trailing.

No, you're wrong. The running game is poor, and no one fears our running game even when we do run off a couple of good ones. They know we can't maintain it.

We need to start running a normal NFL offense and stop this sandlot crap it doesn't work against legit defenses and we proved it again today. If we're going to audible into a 2 yard play then we might as well just run what ever play was originally called even if it means running into 8 in the box

No one fears our running game because we don't run!

We pass because we cannot run, thats just the truth.

Our offensive line is not good enough to make holes consistently enough to have any type of a running game.

This is usually indicative of a .500 or sub .500 team.

I don't disagree... but we don't run because we can't. We just can't.

Do you deep down really think we can get 2 yards on 3rd and 2? I don't, you don't, and neither do they, which is why they throw it every down.

After 2 games with basically 3 new starters and you can conclude that they aren't consistent enough??? You have to give them a chance to prove they suck and 2 games with a retooled line isn't enough to conclude that when the ratio pass to run is like 3-1. This after proclaiming they wanted a more balanced offense. They doesn't scream inconsistent, that screams non-committal.

Nonsense! I've been told the short passing game is just as effective as running the ball.

Oh for some cohesion and the line will be ok I believe that Callahan thought our only shot was to pass.

In all seriousness, I don't know because I don't know when's the last time we've tried. Hell, we go shotgun pass on 1st & goal from within the 5. 2 runs there before a pass in goal to go within the 5 would be nice. At least it tells the big uglies were gonna try to impose our will. But we don't and its a new year to try to recreate your image that you promised you would try to change. This is more of the same ole same ole. Put it on Romo and that plan has prove to put us right where we are at .500

You can't force your will on an opponent with a short passing game, those offensive linemen would much rather run block than pass block.

Do you believe it with what you've seen from Dallas? Maybe for other teams but not this one.

We're headed for another 8-8 unless the focus changes from romo to Dez/Murray.

I'm not quite convinced Murray is the answer. I want to go back and watch the game again to be sure. But it sure as hell seems Murray runs up the back of his o line a lot. He just doesn't seem to have that great of vision to me. Maybe it's just the angle I'm watching from the game camera.
Still. The o - line doesn't do a great job of opening holes or getting a decent push on a consistent basis.

Agree that Murray leave yards but 12 carries isn't enough for any RB to make an impression on any game or enough for an OL to weight on anyone and wear them down. Murray may not be the answer but passing 40+ times isn't the answer either!

This is an interesting discussion to me. I am not sure that this is exactly the right team to make a determination on, how good or bad our running game is. As I watched this game, I noticed that Poe controlled the LOS and basically dominated the run game. That's how the traditional 34 is supposed to work. We never ran ours that way but, that's the way it was designed to work. Fredbeard played a guy who is a dominating NT today. He got beaten and that translated into not much running room for Murray.

Look, I tried to tell everybody that this was a really good team. I suspect that most people really did not know or believe that they were as good as they are because of their record. That makes it harder for the fan base to be objective. I have believed for years that we leave way too much control in the hands of Tony and that ends up being a situation in which we reach for the pass way too often and way to early. That is going to happen and unless we make a decision, as an organization, that less control will be given to Romo and more emphasis on the plays called, to be run, we are always going to be in a position where we fail to establish the run.

Romo will always be a pass first guy.
