Tis the season for offseason random stories...
------------------------------------------

You root for them on Sundays, but how much do you really know about the Cowboys away from the field. Here is an interesting fact (or two) about some of your favorite Cowboys.

Offense:

QB Tony Romo's favorite band is Guns N' Roses. The nickname he and his wife have for each other: Bubbles.

RB DeMarco Murray is big fan of MMA and is friends with Lorenzo Fertitta, one of the owners of UFC.

RB Lance Dunbar says he's the fastest guy on the team, although when he was timed through 20 yards he lost to cornerback Sterling Moore. Dunbar says Moore still isn't faster than him: "I know he's not. I've seen him run before."

Dunbar is also a big bowler. His high score is at least 225.

WR Dez Bryant no-shoes Fridays. Bryant, who ironically is part of the Jordan Brand, doesn't wear shoes around the locker room because of superstition.

He also had Odell Beckham Jr.'s Giants jersey, Alshon Jeffrey's Chicago Bears jersey and Earl Thomas' Seahawks jersey hanging his locker at Valley Ranch at the end of last season

WR Cole Beasley can dunk a basketball despite being 5-8.

WR Dwayne Harris is into fashion. He's done some offseason photo shoots.

T Tyron Smith has a passion for rescue dogs. He has several of his own. And helped lead the charge for several Cowboys players posing with dogs for a 2015 calendar supporting rescue dogs. Smith has at least five rescue dogs at his home, including two named Romeo and Juliet and two named Beauty and Beast.

Smith is also into video games to the point where he's considered a gamer

G Zack Martin was a big fan of the recently concluded show "Sons of Anarchy."

G Doug Free is an avid hunter. That’s how he usually spends the bye week/offseason.https://ssl.***NOT-ALLOWED***/ui/v1/icons/mail/images/cleardot.gif

G Ronald Leary's offseason plan: travel. Hebecame interested in it the team's trip to London. He had never gone outside the country before then.

TE Gavin Escobar likes to rock climb during the offseason, but it's just a hobby. Don't expect to see him hanging off the side of a mountain.

Cole dunking @ 5 '8? That is Spud Webb athleticism right there! Tyron takes in rescue dogs and is an avid gamer? Love the kid even more...thanks as always WG (can take you for granted) I liked the 90's team for being bad boys, but admire this team in a different way.

Cole Beasley -->>

And this guy wanted to go be a professional dirt biker instead? He made Spud's stuff look simple but given that, it was revolutionary @ the time. One of my favorite players was Mugsy Bogues (DMV-PG County local) growing up (played for the Charlotte Hornets @ 5 '3). Just admire that grit and "special" athleticism it takes to fight with the big boys (I'm 6 '0 so not short man ccomplexing over here:D)

Thanks for the pics/links WG. Cool to admire your team:)

LB Rolando McClain isn't a fan of the Cowboys' in-house food at Valley Ranch. Almost every day he goes out to get some kind of fast-food and often eats it while kicked back in the equipment room while watching TV after practice. McClain also loves to fish and hunt.

I've always been conflicted by this. I always felt that part of being a professional athlete was taking care of yourself in the kitchen as well.

Tony and I are the same age, 34, so im not surprised GNR is his favorite band. Everyone growing up in the late 80s/early 90s loved GNR.

And people were saying Moore is slow

GnR had 1 good album, their first and that was a monster album, way good. But since then nothing worth listening too. After that Axel got too messed up on drugs and couldn't even remember the words to his own songs. They became a joke after that first album. I loved that first album, even have a copy today on CD and listen to it to this day, but you wont find another GnR album in my house.

Now Tyron Smith and his dogs, thats a cool story. I have 4 rescues myself. I would have more but cant afford anymore. I have a ton of respect for Tyron, it just got way bigger. The man has a heart. You can tell a lot about a man by the way he treats his animals. You can tell Smiths dogs love him as much as he loves them. Awesome story. Awesome man.

Yup...gotta agree with the first response above. I knew I liked Romo for a reason outside of football!

I was watching that show with Snoop Dogg and his son who is a WR for Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas. They are a nationally ranked school for football.

Then I read Murray also went there before Oklahoma. Lorenzo Fertitta, one of the owners of UFC, has a son that goes there and plays LB for the team. I guess this how Demarco started messing around with MMA training in the off-season.

My friend played against Murray in high school.

I asked him "how well did you defend him?"

He said, "we didn't".
