No, I am not annointing him King QB, but wondering who his play reminds you of... PFW posted that some are saying that Romo reminds them of a young Brett Favre.

I posted this late in a thread that got burried... wondering what you guys & gals think.

I finally got to see the game late last night. I was trying to figure out who Romo reminded me of, but couldn't quite nail it down. Then it hit me... Rich Gannon. Great job of checking down receivers, and more than capable of scrambling if necessary. Man, I would love to see Romo's carrier take off like Gannon's did.

Both were from a small school.
Both were outstanding athletes coming out of college.
Both were considered a long shot to play QB in the NFL (Gannon was drafted in the 4th round, but with the intention of converting him to a DB).
Both had to ride the pine their first few years in the league.

Then Gannon launched after injury gave him an opportunity to play. I am not hoping for anyone to get injured, but I would love to see Romo launch!

he reminds me of a QB that has not thrown a pass in an NFL Regular season game.

That's a good question. Interesting comparision with Gannon. I was trying to think of the same thing. Ironically, I think Romo reminds me a bit of Matt Hasselback.

I think part of it is that Hasselback used to look very good in the preseason subbing for Favre when he was at Green Bay. Hasselback also seems to do a good job of getting rid of the ball (like Romo did) and is pretty accurate especially on the short and intermediate stuff.

I really do not compare him to anyone, I think it is fat fetched to compare him to Favre who had a gun for an arm. I thought Romo played a smart game and took what the defense gave him. Favre on the other hand trys to gun every pass into tight spots relying on his strong arm.

Jason Garrett .. and yes, I really liked Jason Garrett .. don't assume anything by this answer. I view Romo as a very smart quarterback that could manage games well in place of Bledsoe if he gets injured but is a long way from being a "franchise quarterback" no matter how well he looked in the first preseason game.

He is nothing like Rich Gannon. Not the same type of passer or athlete.

From what I saw, and only what I've seen so far because watching him more might cause me to upgrade my view, but I saw a Jason Garrett type.

Smart, gets rid of the ball quickly, has some poise to him, but I think if over exposed his weaknesses will be begin to show up.

I think he can be a career backup who can help a team win 2-4 games a year but would suffer if called upon to play 16 games where teams game planned for his weaknesses.

He reminds me of Kurt Warner with more mobility. I'm not implying that Romo will be a two time mvp, or throw for 40 td's in a season. But his quick release, throwing motion, and accuracy reminded me of Warner. Also, Romo doesn't have the strongest arm but neither did Warner.

Funny.. I was thinking Jason Garrett too.. I think those back shoulder passes reminded me of the lob passes to Alvin Harper or something.. odd.

He reminds me of the stock iPod earbuds.

They are ok. Not bad. Solid for use every once in awhile.

My shure e2c earbuds broke. I need new ones......Any recommendations?

Henson is like my broken ear buds. Sure, the quality in my broken Shure ones are better than the stock Ipod ones occassionally. But not consistant enough to use on a regular basis anymore.

earbuds? If you are set on earbuds, and price is no obstacle, shure just released a kickass set. Otherwise i'd stick to 'phones. But I dont know much about In Ear Monitors, hit up headfi for some recommendations.

I've heard the Jason Garrett analogy, but I think Romo is a better athlete than Garrett ever was. Better feet and a stronger arm (even though Romo's arm isn't great).

The only reason I like earbuds is bec. when I go to class, I can put them in my bookbag.....

Unless you can recommend a good collapsable headphone.

Money unfortunately is an object right now. Unless I can get my parents to kick in some contribution....$150 is about the tops I want to spend on it.

A bigger Drew Brees.

Here was Joel Bauschbaum's bio of Brees coming into the draft. It sounds exactly like Romo, word for word. But Romo has a bigger frame, about 2 inches of height and and 20 lbs of weight.

Positives: Super intangibles and work ethic. Has charisma. Natural leader. Gets instant respect. Mature beyond his years. Mentally and physically tough. Comes into every game focused and prepared. Has exceptional field awareness and vision for a young quarterback. Sees the field well and can see and sense the rush. Very poised and tough. Can’t be intimidated and will not stay flustered for long. Has very big hands for a player his size, a strong, sturdy body, a stout running back’s lower body and quick feet. Can and will run and can scramble to buy time. Also will run the option at times. Does a nice job of looking off receivers and finding his secondary target when necessary. Touch passer who throws a nice, catchable ball. Generally makes good reads and decisions with the ball. No longer forces the ball as much as he once did. Accurate short-to-medium-range passer with timing and touch. Has really improved his accuracy. Clutch player. Can throw an interception to put his team behind with two minutes left and throw a game-winning TD pass at the gun.

Negatives: Played in the type of offense that can make a quarterback look better than he really is. On the short side. Lacks a really strong arm. Very average deep thrower. Deep throws will die on him. Is not that accurate when he throws deep and underthrows too many.

Summary: A Jim McMahon-type player, but unlike McMahon, he is a coach’s dream because he doesn’t have the wild-and-crazy side. Has great intangibles and mental toughness, but he is not as big or strong-armed as you would like and that could really cost him in the draft. Off of physical skills, he is not a top pick. But off of his intangibles, he would be a first-round pick. Could be drafted in the top 10 or fall to the second round.

he reminds me of a right handed Matt Leinart. both dont have the best arms but make smart decisions and get the ball where it has to go, and have the mobility to avoid the rush

Warner had a cannon before he started to get hurt. That's why teams were willing to take a look at him despite only starting 1 year at Northern Iowa.
