Romo should sit

The Cowboys are playing with fire if they allow Romo to play tomorrow. Sit him vs. Arizona. The way this team wins is with running the ball. Use your bread and butter. Weeden can handle the 17 attempts.

Sit Romo vs. Arizona. Sit him vs. Jacksonville. Heck, don't even let him travel. Then, he'll be ready after the bye for the late season stretch which will be critical.

If the doctors say Romo can play, and if they say he can he will, then that's all I really care about.

I'm not going to sit here and play doctor. From what I'm reading, he's not the only player to have this injury and play through it. So, I'm not going to act as if he has a deteriorating spine. If the pain is too much or the doctors say it's best for him to sit, then he won't play.

We'll see at 1pm tomorrow what happens.

Whether Romo play this week, next week or somewhere down the line, Cowboys need to lean on the running game for remainder of the season. Throw out the shotgun as well, and stick with play action. We know from Sturm (and the eyeball test) that the shotgun invites blitzes and endangers our QB, Romo or Weeden. Run on first and second, short yardage and even against the blitz. Line up and kick the snot out of opposing D's while controlling TOP. In other words dictate rather than being dictated to, it all starts up front. Play aggressive and to the strengths of our OL.

If Romo can function and play to a competitive level without hurting the team, he'll play. Romo has shown in the past that he can handle playing with pain and also being effective as well. We're just gonna have to wait to find out if he can do that before the game tomorrow.

I agree, and I'm not sure that will be enough. Its time to seriously start looking for a new QB. He scares me, more for his safety. I would like him to be able to play with his kids after football.

I'm sure he'll play, but the poor guy could probably benefit from a week of not being doped out of his mind. Tony is gonna have some real problems later in life probably.

I'm playing my starter at my most important position if he's 1. medically cleared to play and 2. judged by the coaches to be physically effective. There's no way I'm willingly taking the step down from Tony Romo to Brandon Weeden if I don't have to do it.

I think he should sit too. He won't be very mobile and he tends to get "happy feet" when protecting his back. We need a healthy QB, not a gimpy one tomorrow.

If he does play, there better be a short leash on him if they bring constant pressure and he can't deal with it.

Well this thread can be closed - he is out today. Let him sit a couple weeks to get back to full strength.

I like Weeden and he played well last week when given the chance but he faces a different animal today.

Maybe this team can rise to the challenge - if we beat AZ with our back up QB, color me convinced about this teams ability to take it the distance
