Romo is talking. He says the back problem is unrelated to prior ones. Says it's day by day AND declines to specify what it is.
Romo says if his injury comes down purely to pain tolerance, he will play. Says it's also about functioning/being able to play well.

It makes you wonder if they're worried it's actually worse and they're just looking into rather or not he can hurt himself more by playing.

It's probably worrying to much without enough information but something about this just makes me worry that this is something bad that they're trying to decide how bad, or how much worse it can be if he keeps playing, and is going to turn out being a long term injury as far as how long he's out.

The Cardinals aren't idiots. They watch tape. They know exactly where Romo was hit. Romo saying he has a deep bruise on his back will have absolutely no bearing on how the Cardinals play him on Sunday.

Well, since they opted for a CAT scan, I'm guessing they were looking for any fractures to the vertebrae that didn't show up on the standard X-ray. Maybe they found something.
