Romo still gets overlooked

I thought maybe Romo had finally accomplished enough this season to be mentioned in the same breath with the leagues top QB's.

His stats are great, .. and in two of the past three seasons, he won the NFC East, qualified for the playoffs, and advanced his team to the Divisonal round of the playoffs.

Individual and team accomplishments.

But in an Associated Press article in this mornings paper, they were discussing the state of the NFL.

"A league driven by quarterbacks has a splendid blend of veterans in top form (four-time MVP Peyton Manning, Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees, even 40 yr old Brett Favre), passers only now in their primes (Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, Aaron Rodgers), and youngsters with great promise (Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco and Chad Henne)."

The article did mention Dallas' defense as one of the best that made the playoffs, .. but Romo still gets overlooked.

Undeservably so IMO.

Good. It will keep him working harder and, hopefully, motivate him to help the Cowboys gain homefield advantage right through to the Super Bowl.

Going into a season not worried about who your QB is or if he can do the job has been a blessing.

Romo fits that group better than Roethlisberger. Replace Ben with Tony, and you have the top 3 active QBs in terms of QB rating.

Isn't Romo 30 next season? If so, I'm not sure you can place him in the "top young passers" category anymore.

If you judge him vs the "guys over 30" he maybe is in the bottom of the top 5 vs Manning, Favre, Brady, Brees...

At first I assumed Aaron Rogers was older because next year is his 6th year in the league -- obviously he sat three years behind Favre. Evidently he must have come into the league when he was 20 or 21.

He's put up crazy big numbers in his first two seasons as a starter -- if they stabilize the offensive line in Green Bay next year I wouldn't be surprised to see Rogers join the 5000 yard and/or 40+ TD club.

Yeah, Romo needs that to motivate him IF he does, Cowboys are in trouble. Nothing in Romo's DNA (public or whats written about him), suggests that he gets motivated by critics. He wants to be great and get better every day. Thats what he says, and I believe him, because of his actions.

Maybe not Anderson, but Sanchez has to be the most overrated POS in the league right now. He threw eight more ints than TDs and his completion rate was below 55%.

Oh and he also fumbled ten times.

The guy put up incredibly mediocre stats for the first few games of the season and STILL people were anointing him with his winning the fricking rookie of the week award what, two, three weeks in a row?

Spare me that crap. The guy is only a good starting QB when you compare him to JaMarcus Russell and Brady Quinn.
