NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NFL RISK TAKERS AND RULE BREAKERS:
DARE TO BE DIFFERENT. Wild? Crazy? Adorable? Tony Romo says he’s just a regular quarterback who happens to make a few unusual plays. Jason Witten and Terrell Owens don’t really care – as long as their fearless leader keeps getting them ball. As told to The Magazine’s Eddie Matz.
* Romo on his play: “The stuff I do doesn’t feel like risk to me. Bill Parcells said this game isn’t for the fainthearted and that if you’re going to do everything by the book you’re not going to be very good. I try to do the high-percentage thing, but sometimes your instinct kicks in, and you either trust it or you don’t.”
* Owens on Romo: “The plays that Tony’s made have been heads-up; I wouldn’t call them risky. There are going to be situations where all quarterbacks take chances, not just Tony or Brett Favre. Some guys just stick out more. Tony has “it”, whatever “it” is.”
* Witten on Romo: “People think Tony just wings it, but he has reads that he’s going through. What separates him is that when things break down and most quarterbacks would take a sack or throw it away or throw an interception, he turns into a different player.”
