That's correct....I stand by that.
If we score 6, they allow 10. If we score 20, they allow 24. If we score 30, they allow 35.
It was the same way last season. 10 of our 16 games last year were less than 7 points differential going into the 4th quarter. It's the same defense that last year allowed the Rams and Austin Davis 31 points in a win and allowed the Skins and Colt McCoy 20 in a loss. When Tony isn't playing, teams play very conservatively, but they always answered and scored whenever they needed to.

It wasn't the number of points that lost those games this year, and it's not that Tony would have put up a bunch of scores in the 4th quarter to win them. In our close games last year, the offense held the ball and seldom punted in the last few moments because high score or low score, it was almost always close, and we all knew that if the other team had the ball last, we were going to lose.

Most NFL games are decided in the final minutes, and we win when Tony leads us to the winning score in the final minute, and we win when Tony doesn't let us punt and put our defense on the field in the final minute. We lost because our offense couldn't do those two things, but make no mistake. Even with Tony on the field, in a close game, high score or low score, we lose most of the time when our defense is out there at the end. We can probably all remember the games when our defense turned teams away by stopping them on 4th down at the end of a game because that's so rare.

Unless our defense figures out how to get turnovers, you just watch, we will win a lot of these remaining games because of Tony and in spite of the defense, not because they stopped anyone with the game on the line.

When Campo was here for his string of 5-11 seasons, we had the #5 or so defense at one time, but it wasn't because they were good. It was because we were so bad on offense that teams just played conservatively to hold leads or wait for us to give them the game. It was no testament to having a good defense. Don't forget what franchise QB's like Brees and Brady did to this defense.
