Not really.

Romo wasnt taking up anyones active spot, 8 guys have to be inactive anyway.

They thought he still had a chance to play, no reason to IR him till they were sure.

Because he may have been able to play again depending on how he healed. Obviously, he didn't heal as quickly as they had hoped, so now he's on IR.

Because Jones, Garrett and the entire Cowboys organization is incompetitent.

Or maybe it's a conspiracy to make sure the Cowboys continue to suck.

Now I know this is going to sound crazy.
But maybe his initial diagnosis lead the team to believe he could return. AND they saw enough benefits to the team as a whole in his return.

Its taking longer than hoped so now they do it. Makes sense to me, though they might as well have done it a couple of weeks ago.

I was hoping he could return to get in some real game work with Dez but once Dez went down I saw no need to bring Tony back this season.

Get well, Tony. Can't wait to see you on the field again next year (if there's football)!

About time. Thank godness we didn't try to play him this year.

I don't think it should have mattered how fast he was healing, a broken bone takes 6-8 weeks to heal a broken bone in a normal human being, why risk it at all? What possible level of healing would have been okay in that time frame to risk your franchise QB having to do go through a whole new series of rehab and physical therapy under these circumstances?

Maybe some of you have never had to go through PT, it blows. It's not fun in the least bit.

I'm glad he was able to hang around the team though, from my understanding if you're on IR, you have to stay clear, no?

Question... if he goes on IR... is he still allowed to be involved (wear a headset) on the sidelines during the game?

I'm with ya. I'm pumped for next season.

Yes and it should have be done weeks ago

Could have been done weeks ago (maybe, depending on what the doctors were saying). But certainly makes sense now, when they might need some backup help on the roster -- maybe on ST -- given the injury situation (including Lee and Sensabaugh).

Tony's getting married. He needs time to get that together and faking the collar bone was a bit drastic, but necessary to insure quality time with Candice.
Wouldn't be surprised if he retires and takes Dumb Buck's place with Aikman over the offseason.

Whoops, I posted too soon.

Tony Romo's season is over.

The Cowboys decided early this morning to place their starting quarterback on injured reserve. The move frees up a spot on the team's 53-man active roster. Who will take Romo's spot is still being discussed.

We needed to see if he was going to be ready to play. With an injury of this nature there is no chance of hurting it worse ... once it is healed, it is healed. Putting him on IR when he still had a shot at returning for a few games is what a loser team would do. Gee, lets send a message that this season isn't important enough to risk Romo.

I guarantee the delay is due to Tony wanting to play.

I think both Garrett and Jones wanted him to play as well.
