I'm going to miss those times:

raw

*sobs* It's hard to believe that they're gone. That was one of the best connections that I ever knew along with Romo to TO. My best known Cowboys memories came from Romo connecting to those two people, and now I can only remember them through my memories and the media. It feels like one of the connections to my childhood has died.

Great information.

Should have had Super Bowl memories.

Still can’t believe their years were wasted.

I'm a very forgiving individual, but it stings me to no end that I'll never get to see those two with a Super Bowl ring. I know life is far from fair, but it's ridiculous that players like Eli and Flacco have Super Bowl rings while neither Romo nor Witten have a ring.

Well said. In All Or Nothing Jerry and his family were pretty forthright in admitting it was their greatest regret as owners and the Eli, Flacco references are just too brutal to think about.

Exactly, and that's what's insanely sad about this whole situation. Beyond the fact that this is a connection that dates back to my years in Jr. High, it's a connection that we SHOULD have been able to enjoy, but never did. Worse yet, freaking Rex Grossman got to a Super Bowl. For one reason or another, we never got to enjoy seeing this connection in the SB. I blame the coaches, Jerry, and the officials for that.

I feel you.

Certain fans feel I’m negative but it’s not. Jerry disappointed me as an Owner as far as not providing these two guys with good to great coaching after Parcells left.

I’m getting off subject but I will not forget the memories that these two displayed and produce as phenomenal Cowboy players over the years.

Well, I feel like Wade Phillips could have gotten them a ring if we had a legitimate offensive coordinator. Wade Phillips knows his stuff with defense. If it were possible to combine him and someone like Mike Holmgren at OC, I think we could have gone on to number 6.

I totally get what you mean by their years being wasted, but I completely disagree. My fandom goes all the way back to the beginning, and I have enjoyed their play as much as I did Staubach, Aikman, Dorsett, and anybody else you want to throw in there. No, they didn't win the big one, or even get there, but I always had hope with them, and I am extremely proud that they played for my team. I will miss them both.

Well, while I haven't even got half the longevity that you have in terms of fandom, I agree with you in that sense. It's been an absolute pleasure to watch the two of them at work. Despite the hellstorm that surrounded this team, they were the two players (along with Ware) that I could count on to at least give us a fighting chance. As long as Romo, Witten, and Ware were in the game, I knew we had a shot.
