If he's still doing commentary, he'll still have a good grasp of the game, I think. In fact, looking in from the outside every week at various teams may give him a better perspective than the coaches who are trying to make their own systems work year after year.

He also stated he wants to spend more time with his children who are still fairly young and doesn't want to move around. That's one of the main reasons he retired.
