I see this debate is still raging on, i can barley figure out as to why. Some people i see are posting about Romo thinking he will return without having lost any abilities from his injuries and all this time he has spent on the sidelines. How did some of you come to this conclusion that someone with this many injuries/time off can simply come back without having lost a step/beat? Did you not see in the preseason that this is not the same Romo anymore, were we watching different games?

Sometimes i think we posters just want to be heard because we have nothing better to do. The Romo debate is 90% over, but Jerry is crazy so he will throw Romo back in there without a second thought because of all the money he sent Romo's way, Jerry doesn't want it to look like a bad move, but it was a bad move, and there is not much Jerry can do about it now.

I don't know how good Dak can be or if he is the future, but i know Romo is done. At best Romo plays a few good games before hes going in for another surgery/time off.

I get it that some fans want Romo to retire with a ring, but your asking Dak to do half the lifting maybe more and then have Romo get lucky in a playoff run? So a injured/battered Romo will get lucky now but that same luck always evaded him in previous attempts? I guess were all different but that stance seems way to optimistic for me.

Well im sure this post/thread has flaws, but i think the overall point of view i'm trying to get across is as solid as it will get. Romo is done, don't be mad at people who see it or post it. If you need more time to see/accept it, well take all the time you need.

I tried but the Federal Government said the position was already filled.

We'll know soon enough

I do know as fact that many saying he's "for sure" done now were saying basically the same thing pre-season 2014.
Could not have been more wrong then.

But, as they say, even a broken clock is right sometimes. If you say he's done every chance you get, well, since everyone is eventually done, you someday will finally be correct.

You are 100% completely right. He looked HORRIBLE when healthy in preseason. Overweight, slow, wrinkled, opposite of agile, arm strength almost gone... You have to keep in mind if they bring him back these are the same people who wanted Connor Cook and Charles Tapper over Dak Prescott.

They will be the ones who look like they lost their mind if they bring Romo back.

Did I mention he looked awful PRIOR to another MAJOR injury?

We might need a Romo vs Dak forum before its all said & done.

We have no idea how Romo will do when he returns.
You could be correct and he underperforms. If that's the case, he will be replaced sooner rather than later.
If he plays well and the team wins, everyone benefits.
But we won't until anything until he gets on the field. Which he will when healthy.

Fortunately, know-nothing fans have absolutely ZERO say in any of this.

What a blessing that is.
Agree, very fortunate for Romo and some our fans' feelings. Our chances of winning, not so much.

One day, perhaps you'll get football. Right now, not so much.

So 32 coaches and general managers are wrong, but you have it all figured out? All 32 teams would start Romo when he's healthy with this team in this situation. All of them.

That is a pure guess and wishful thinking. Nothing more.

While we are it, look at the Cowboys track record over the last 13 years. 2 playoff wins. Are the Cleveland Browns that bad? Seriously... Seattle rolled with their rookie QB and have won a SB with him. Face the facts, Romo FAILED and is dead weight at this point. We can either continue to let him ride this team into the ground or we can build around a future star. Easy decision.

No, it's not. That's what real football people would do.

Did you watch Arizona obliterate San Francisco last night with backup quarterback Drew Stanton? Stop acting like beating the Commanders, Bears, and 49ers is some massive accomplishment.

Dak is doing great....for a rookie. And if Romo gets hurt, then it's a moot point. But if healthy, Romo is DRAMATICALLY better than Dak right now. It's not even close.

Don't you want to open up the other 50% of the playbook?

This really isn't even a debate. Romo will start when he is healthy again unless Dak starts playing a lot better. Dak has not played poorly but it's not like he's really destroying everyone. We have been relying on the running game and shorter passes. When Romo comes back the whole playbook is opened up and we can start taking those shots downfield. That will open things up for the running game even more. Romo may be a bit rusty at first, but look at 2014. He shakes the rust off rather quickly.

Thanks for the post OP was really necessary as it hasn't been beaten to death yet. You also made a very compelling argument and you're right your point is as solid as it gets. Consider my mind changed!

FACTS. This your "dramatically" better QB with 13 years of complete football failure.

We have to go on their most recent games for a true comparison of where they are now.

Romo 2015 Stats - 4 games
QB Rating 79.4
Comp Pct 68.6
YPG 221.0
Y/A 7.3
TD 5
INT 7
Fumbles Lost 1
Rush TD 0

Dak 2016 Stats - 4 games
QB Rating 98.5
Comp Pct 67.9
YPG 253.0
Y/A 7.7
TD 3
INT 0
Fumbles lost 0
Rush TD 2

This is how the Cowboys blow 20 million. Is it any wonder why we haven't won anything in almost 20 years? And some "fans" truly love it.
