I was cleaning up a found a salary list Adam posted a few months ago. I was very very surprised to see Romo's 2006 cap number of $2,334730.

I'm guessing he got a new deal this spring.
That's a big cap number for an oringinal FA QB in his 4th year.
Not the kind of money you give a guy without starters ability, someone whom your not affraid of losing in FA.
Adam, could you post the deal he signed?

Some folks need to adjust their perceptions to the much higher salary cap. 51 players, 100 mill cap, 51 players, 2.3 mill = not a lot.

Minus signing bonus that's half of what TO gets., for a guy who's only thrown 2 nfl passes. $100m + some change divided by 51 players equals Romo getting a fair share more then the common person would ever imagine someone in his status getting. Your perception is the one that's off. Do the math. Thats more than we just gave the NFLs all-time most accurate kicker. That's more than a majority of the starters on this team get, let alone some unknown that nobody really knows for sure about one way or the other.

But wait that last statement of mine is obviously wrong... Someone knows he's worth it or they wouldn't be giving him that kind of money. Fact of the matter, we could have gotten him for a lot cheaper, but apparently someone or mutiples of someone is trying to send him a messege...and that messege being, 'we have plans for you'.

Interesting thought. My take on this was the Cowboys trying to keep a guy they have invested a lot of time in and other teams wanted (a defensive move). Romo was looking at the FA market soon. I was never sure if the Jets tried to trade for him last year but the Cowboys did act like someone wanted him this offseason. A number of teams might be willing to give him a real shot at the starting job. The Cowboys don't know what they have, but the potential is there.

Look what the Giants paid for Eli Manning. That is in the neighborhood of the asking price it would take to get Quinn.

Have you noticed that his bashers are quiet again?

I'd love to get him. It will never happen.

Didn't the Giants have the 4th pick tho that year ? That will be much different for us next years draft having the 32nd...

That's what I'm talking about. We can't pay it. They also gave up their next year's #1.

Our 1st and Romo is a joke.

This statement is ridiculous, in one sentence you say he is a bum, then in the next, you think he is so great we can move way up the draft board? Care to try and make sense of your statement?
