Tony Romo's QBR against Buffalo was 99.3 and was the highest rating not only this week but for the entire season in the league. In fact you have to go back to Carson Palmer in 2008 to find a higher QBR rating.

Remember, this is not the old QB rating system, but takes into account several "clutch weight" formulas.

For the season, Romo is ranked 4th overall in the NFL behind Rodgers, Brees and Brady.

Within the division for the season.

Romo - 74.8
Manning - 67.8
Vick - 58.1
Grossman - 17.8

Say what you will about the QBR or stats in general or trust issues or playoff runs (we all want one) it's so obvious guys like this do not grow on trees.

The bottom line is Tony gives us a great chance to win every week and in this league that's the best you can hope for.

Romo + Strong Running game + Improving O-line + Solid defense = exciting times ahead :D

His near perfect game moved him into 3rd place in all time QB rating. Behind Aaron Rodgers and Steve Young.

It is these types of stats that are lost on so many of the so called "analysts," whose gibberish we have to ingest every week.

Yup, third-highest QB rating of all time, third-highest QBR this year, highest fourth-quarter QB rating of any current QB, and highest single-game QBR this year. But yeah, he's not an elite QB.

DURRRR!!!! DUH!!!!! :abuseme:

This is a great OP and I appreicate any concrete evidence that will allow our fans to better appreciate Romo......

But did you have to include this? Grossman - 17.8:laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

I'm laughing too hard to appreciate your thread!

Getting off to a 1-5 start in 2010 and the meltdowns of the Jets and Lions are killers in this regard.

Makes no difference that he played real well during the 1-5 start.
Makes no difference that he played real well againstthe Jets and Lions to build those leads.
Makes no difference that his carreer 4th quarter rating is actually better than his overall rating and one of the best in football.

Bottom line is, if the guy losses his car keys some talking head will tell you it's contributing to global warming.

Romo can't win til he wins the big one.

Are you sure he didn't say he was depressed?

Man, somebody can correct me but didn't Marshall Faulk or Deion say the Commanders were the class of the NFC East and it was because of Grossman.

And these guys are making $500,000 a year for stuff like that. Unbelievable!

Well, you have to remember that Shanny has a depth perception problem.

He can only see half of the picture...

The problem is that you want all of the positive plays without any negative plays. There is no such QB on the planet.

You also focus on the late mistakes versus big plays made earlier in the game that put us in the lead.

Now let's look at late game against Detroit. Romo throws a pick when we have a 3-point lead and the defense has to defend 40 yards of turf. If they hold the Lions to a FG we go to overtime. However they fail so the Lions win. Why put all the blame on Romo?

Look at the NE game. Romo gets us a 3-point lead. The defense has 70 yards of field to defend over 3 minutes. They give up the TD again and don't give Romo time to come back. Why put the blame on Romo?

Against the Jets admittedly Romo's mistake was well covered up by the defense and they held the Jets to a FGA. However, through that game Romo was playing without a running game, Dez wasn't able to do anything because of the thigh injury. Romo basically only had Miles and Witten to go to but they were being well covered.

You always focus on the QB play as the cause of wins and losses. QB position makes more difference than any other but they are only responsible for about 20-25% of the offensive performance. The rest depends on the blocking, running and receiving of the other 10 members of the offensive unit.

The bottom line is Romo is probably the 3rd best QB in the game right now. The top 2 are not available. There is no immediate hope of finding anyone better to replace him this year or in the next two to three years. We have to build the rest of the team up around him so that we can compete with the elite teams in the league.

You got to be smart, you got to be strong to be an NFL QB.

But if Romo makes one mistake...he needs to roll.
