Romo's Return?

you nailed it man. looks like some of our fans are in denial. reality hurts and reality says we are done this year regarding playoffs.

Its understandable, expectations were so high entering this season that some fans just cant accept the reality of the situation. They dont want to accept that the season is over with before Halloween.

Only thing to look forward to now is the draft and interviews for a new Head Coach. I know some people are saying that Jerry is not going to get rid of Wade if there is a lockout, but I dont buy it.

No way in hell can Jerry keep Wade after a 3-13 type season and sell that to the fans. Not even Jerry is dumb enough to believe that ballon would fly.

Dude, we have 1 freaking win and its week 8!!!!

At Arizona is a "cakewalk" with Romo??? You realize that the Cardinals just beat the defending SB Champs.

Green Bay in Lambeau is nothing because the Packers are "average"?? Didnt the Pack just beat the Vikings team we couldnt???

At New York is "doable" if the D steps up??? Did you hear Marcus Spears say that if there was another quarter to go the Giants would have dropped 60 on us because we just have no answer for them??? Yea, sounds to me like the defense is just overflowing with confidence for a rematch.

Dude, those teams are looking at us thining "easy W".

Well I guess no team should ever play a team they lost to previously because it apparently means they have no shot to win anymore. Really, do you actually believe the crap you're spewing?

Yes, Arizona should be cake, even with Kitna. Arizona is a bad football team. Is it guaranteed? Of course not. Do you think they're good or something because they beat New Orleans?? Really?

And yes, there is no reason they shouldn't be able to beat GB. They are average and they means they have every chance in the world to win that game. Just because they beat Minnesota doesn't mean they'll automatically beat us. And to say we couldn't beat Minnesota is wrong as well. We didn't beat Minnesota, but we very well could have.

And Mr. Spears comments are irrelevant. They're not going back in time to Monday night to play the game at the end of the other one. It's a new game, a new day, and IF (please read this time) the D steps up and doesn't play like a bunch of girls this time (a little help from the O to keep them off the field some would help) then they have a chance. Would you like to go back in time to 2004 when the Eagles spanked us at home but then in the rematch in Philly we put out a great defensive performance?

You sound like someone who has never seen football outside of this season before.

I guess the Titans should have given up last year when they were 0-6 instead of fighting and being in the playoff race with just a few weeks to go.

Some of you just give up too easily. Probably gave up at 0-1, maybe in the preseason. Just because something is difficult or unlikely doesn't mean you can't have a little hope that it might happen. This is the NFL, a place where difficult, unlikely, and crazy things can and do happen. Nobody is saying that it will happen, but at least we're not too close minded to realize that it CAN (key word here guys) happen.

  • Considering the initial prognosis
  • Looking over the up coming schedule
  • And taking into Aikman's 5-6 week recovery on a similar injury
Here are the questions:

How many wins do we need to get these next few weeks to make a Romo return possible/plausible/neccessary?

If we could squeeze out at least 2 wins against the Jags and Detroit, could/would Romo be back for the Colts game?

From my point of view, we're not eliminated from the playoffs til we get our 9th loss.

If we get to the Colts game with 8 or fewer losses, I would hope we'd see Romo in that game.

Thoughts........

You can't compare it to Aikman's injury. Romo's break is closer to the outer shoulder which typically is a longer healing process. His healing is more on the 8 week range.

Aikman was closer to his neck which heals faster.

Hmmm, NYG, GB on the road, NO on Turkey day. Dallas would have to go 3-2 to get to 4-7. Can they win 3 in a row at home?

But you know, sometimes teams rally, Romo being out could elevate everyone and get them going. The journey continues!!

What was the rally cry last year "BELIEVE" :D

how can you guys already give up?

makes me sick :banghead:

jon kitna is our qb

we need to stand behind our team win or lose.

I have not given up, I will watch the last 10 games and root for them just like any other fan should. I just think you have to be realistic about the situation.

We were 1-4 with Romo in there. You could say Romo kept us in some of those ball games but we still found a way to lose. The team has to make a complete 180 from the last 5 weeks. We have to play near perfect ball, limit penalties, play good special teams, score in the redzone and defense has to stop giving up big plays. Oh and of course the football gods give us breaks from time to time and make some of the balls bounce our way.

If that happens maybe a miracle streak happens, but that's a lot of bounces that have to go our way. Odds are it will not, but that is why they play the GAME. ANY GIVEN SUNDAY, that's why I watch!!!

Non one is giving up, bu ton occasion you simply have to lay down "the Hollywood story" or the "sells a good book" outlook and face cold reality.

The reality is we have a tough schedule coming up. A deflated demoralized time now having to string a bunch of wins together with their back up QB.

All of this is assuming our D suddenly steps up, no more penalties, mistake free QB play, receivers who dont drop pases, an effective running game, a pass rush that can get to the QB, and an O-line that can give any QB back there more then 3 nanoseconds to pass, and an entire coaching staff that really schemes together a tight gameplan.

Wow man thats alot of assumptions.. and you wonder why people start to lose a little faith.

Ill keep watching but expectations are utterly zero. Anything short of that imho is setting yourself up for disappointment.

We really don't, we really really don't. Outside of Indy and New York, nobody on the schedule is that tough, and I think the defense made New York look a lot tougher than they actually are.

On paper I'm in agreement with you Chldsplay...however...the games at the start of the season were very winnable too and look where we are.

If there were isolated issues that had a chance to be fixed, I would be on board. But we have a virtual myriad of serious problems facing the team. I think thats where all of us as fans are very frustrated - not to mention nauseous and disgusted.

I for one stand by my assertion that Wade Phillps was the worst thing that ever happened to this, because his enabling co-dependent "sweet" nature dont work in the ego filled world of the Dallas Cowboys. (or for that matter most teams)

Just another reminder that Wade did not hire Phillips. It was ummmm, let me think. Oh yeah. Got it. Jones. Jerry. Yeah, that's it. Jerry Jones hired Wade. And I am certain that Jerry learned his lesson when it comes to control freaks like Jimmy Johnson, Bill Parcells and uh, Wade. Oh. Sorry. Wade is not a control freak.

How many on here believe that this exact team with Parcells or Johnson as head coach would for all practical purposes be out of the hunt for a playoff spot?
Next question. Who believes the next choice for head coach by Jerry will be a control freak?
The answer to my last question will define the future of Americas Team.

Thanks for all the responses guys.

I don't think I or anyone else responding in this thread aren't facing reality.

It's frustrating for these reasons:

1) We were a far better than our 1-4 record.
2) It really looked like the Giants game could've been a win without Romo going down. Know the doom and gloomers would argue that, but that's enough for two threads.
3) Now we have to deal with all the teams problems without our best performer year to date.

Here's something else. I HATE LOSING. I hate all the smug satisfied Cowboy haters out there feeling so good. I hate all the teams that will take advantage of Romo's injury and celebrate beating us like it was their SB.

What I hate most are all us fans so willing, so quick to write off Romo's season. You have to be nuts!

You want to give the ****ing skins or the ****ing eagles more easy wins and an easier path to the playoffs?

I don't care about the draft pick. It wouldn't mean nearly as much as finishing strong would for 2011.

I really think most fans are only conerned with Wade getting fired. They feel a need for this to happen and fear a strong finish could put that in question.

Well obviously the team has to play better than it has. That applies to any team that has any hopes of making a turn around. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. But the one thing this team has in it's advantage to other teams that have tried to turn things around is that they aren't over-matched when they're on the field. They have to clean up their game, but they have the ability to win any of the games on their schedule. Just have to take it one at a time.

4-2 over the next 6 weeks isn't impossible. This is the NFL. If Kitna lights up the Jaguars today, many more will jump off the "season's over" wagon.
