Romo should have had his day a long time ago - like last year, or even two years ago. Due to the stubborness of Parcells, this team is once again playing for next year.

Now, it's too late. The Parcells experiment has failed. Romo is not going to come in and take us to the Superbowl. Parcells knows it. This team knows it. YOU know it. That doesn't mean Romo won't ever take us there. In fact, I think he will some day.

The revolving door of quarterbacks continues after Troy walked through the exit door. Parcells was stubborn enough to believe any old crusty quarterback could come in here and lead them to a Superbowl. Wrong. Results noted, and hypothesis changed.

Ultimately the blame falls on Parcells. Jerry got the guys he wanted, and now, this team is entirely his creation. I created my sig. and avatar the day Dallas signed Bledsoe. I was hoping to be wrong. Parcells proved me right.

Good luck Romo. This could be a long season.

Meh. I think that TR is just now ready -- he's probably been struggling with that since TC.

Romo would have been a disaster 2 years ago. Hell, we aren't completely sure he is ready now, but at least he's had time to learn and mature and has shown his ability in the preseason. 2 years ago he was just a green kid out of a small school who didn't get drafted.

It would have been complete ignorance to throw him to the wolves that early... Could have ruined another young QB.

Yep.

Romo was not ready to go 2 years ago and fortunately was never thrown in the fire like some of the other unprepared guys we have seen around here were.

I use to be a big advocate of playing guys their first year, but for about 2 years now, I have totally backed off that idea and think it is appropriate and sit em for a year or two.

Im not sure that sitting a guy for 1 or 2 years has hurt any QB in history, but I think playing them right out of the gate has.

I agree. Romo needed the time.

I agree. I think when your talking a 1st pick with a lot of money invested teams are pretty much forced to put the guy out there within the 1st year or 2. I think guys are better off if allowed to develop before taking on that job.

I saw Romo in training camp 2 years ago. I assure you, he was NOT ready. At that time Henson was ahead on the depth chart for good reason.

Yep. I'd have been content cutting Romo two years ago, frankly.

He badly needed the time to develop. At most, this is six or so games overdue. No way two years, though.

We finally made the right choice to allow a young, unpolished quarterback to develop by watching. He -- nor Quincy, Hutch, Henson -- were exactly NFL-ready when they came to the league (granted, Henson was never rushed).

I consider a disaster not going to the Superbowl. Sure, Romo would have gone through some struggles, but we all would have seen the ability like we saw in Aikman while he struggled on those bad teams.

Would Romo have been ruined? Hell no, that guy is nails mentaly. It sure would have prepared him for our run this year with T.O.

Our record would be 6-0 with an experienced Romo this year. All would be well at the ranch.

I agree. The timing is right.

The only thing I wish was that we made him the starter at game 1.

I will take your word for it. What about last year?

Yep.

I know you cannot simulate NFL Speed and pressure, but let they guy soak in the Playbook, sit behind a Vet and see how it is suppose to be done.

It would be good to get a thread going discussing who some here thought could have been good quarterbacks, but were totally ruined by playing way too early.

I remember hearing that Romo really began to progress when Testaverde got here - that Testaverde was able to show him what it takes to be a good QB and play well, prepare, etc.

I know that when I saw the three of these guys (Testaverde, Henson & Romo), Romo was most definitely the rawest of them. He had no mechanics, he was sloppy, etc. He must have really come along in practices that year to gain trust of the coaches, because during TC, he was not doing very well.

That being said - what I've seen from him since then is completely different. His poise and footwork are much better, and he is throwing better.

I didn't go then - you'd have to ask Dale. I think that Romo started developing when Vinny got here, so I think that last year was the first time he actually started playing well.

That being said, I think he finally became prepared this last TC. I was for starting him after the Jax game, but I don't think last year would have been appropriate.

I would say that even though Troy made it he paid a heavy price by getting thrown out there so early. Troy took a beating his rookie year and I think it contributed to his career not lasting as long.

I agree, but the way bledsoe had not played terribly last year and the way he played in preseason with this offense there was no justification to bench him for this season.

He should have gotten time at the end of last season when there was no hope for the playoffs.
