Been a member for a while now, but this is my first post.

Cowboy fan since birth, but it really kicked in when I went to a Cowboys game against the Browns in 1974 and saw Roger loft a perfect pass to Golden Richards. I was hooked.

Anyway, just wanted to comment about how I think the media will treat the Romo & Co jaunt to Mexico this past weekend.

Funny that if he flew to Wisconsin (farther than Mexico) to visit his family, the impending hoopla would be much less quiet.

The fact that it was south of the border w/ Jessica will cause several "analysts" to question Tony's dedication to the team.

I can hear it now:

Tony Romo is becoming too "Hollywood"
Tony should have been at home studying film
Tony should have been watching the games (some media may not realize they have tv's in Mexico).

Crossing my fingers that everyone's healthy and Stewart/Garrett have some nice plans they've been holding back for the playoffs.

I think most sane Cowboys fans(and ones that aim to remain sane;)) just ignore the media.

I've noticed that's a major theme 'round these parts. It seems this forum sometimes takes on the role of a therapist when a Cowboy fan feels their team has been "wronged" by the media.

Ironic that most of the discussion on this site would not exist WITHOUT the media. People on here are not reporting, they are repeating.

I actually dont like it when the media say something good about the Cowboys anymore.... I get a little dizzy... lose my composure.... get all discombobulated.

I don't care what the media says. My "complaint" about the Mexico trip is why isn't Romo out there working w/ Stanback, Austin and Hurd in the event TO can't go, or re-injures his ankle? I know the bye helps the injured have time to heal, but it also gives extra time to cram some of the offense into the heads of those guys that haven't had as much playing time. Why are we always dependent on 1 player (e.g. TO)? The Giants have lost Shockey, a very big part of their O, yet they won their PO game. Don't we want to do as well???...

My "complaint" is that no one has leaked any topless pics of Jessica!

Based on this report, WP encouraged the team to "get away from football" during the bye weekend.

That was kind of my original (not well made) point. It's no different than if Romo flew to Wisconsin to visit family for a couple of days. Football players are allowed a day off once in a while. I don't think Romo was in Mexico for more than a couple of days.

Hmm, not sure Wade meant leave the country w/ Pop star being followed by paparazzi to notorious party location 1 week before biggest game of ur life. I am not certain that's what he meant by get off your feet. For all we know Wade gave in inch and they took a mile. Which would be lame and would speak to leadership.

Or, it could be nothing!

As long as Romo plays, then he can go to Mexico on his off days. I suspect that before he was the starting QB, Romo went to visit gf outside of Dallas. Also, he needs to be ready to play on Sunday regardless of where he went or what he did last week.

Is it possible that what you wished happened between Romo and the other receivers has already happened? Maybe they got together the weekend before he left for Mexico? Maybe they stayed after practice for 2 hours for 3 days last week. Have you ever over studdied for a test? Did you ever get to a point that felt ready to go and had to get away for a while to clear your thoughts?

If Jessica Simpson was not famous and you knew he went to Mexico would it bother you less? If Romo went to Mexico to try to get to know his Mexican heritage more, would it be this big of an issue?

Not having the total view of Romo's "to do list" makes any speculation about his PERSONAL life irrational and quite over the top as a fan.

Judge Romo's play and not his personal life until you have proof that the two clash and affect his production.

Go with your less fretfull, cover your behind, second option, lol.

Maybe it would just be better if Romo took some LSD, put it on a chimichanga and had a trip to Mexico. That way he wouldn't be leaving the happy confines of the Valley Ranch slave compound.

Regardless of what the media thinks, Tony Romo is setting himself up for a bad fall. If we lose this game, imagine the outroar from this Mexico trip. I understand Tony deserves a vacation, but how about a lower key location?

He can always go to Mexico after the season's over or on his way back from Hawaii. Why set up the media frenzy?

This whole "issue" is nonsense. Unbelievable.
Agreed. This was coach mandated R&R, literally Wade told them to get away from football for the weekend.

I'm in no way worried that a weekend away from football will distract Tony. I am, however, more worried that our recent poor execution (in December guys - not just the Washington game) might carry over to Sunday.

Luckily, we are playing a team that we should dominate in every phase of the game. So relax everyone, and enjoy the victory on Sunday.

I honestly think Romo is completely confident in what he is doing at this point. There are many testaments praising his work ethic, the team had a couple of off days, honestly does it matter as long as he's not getting into trouble?

Tony is confident in himself, we all know this. He is just getting away from football for awhile before this week of practice. He's back and he looks fine.

At what point do you start living your life the way you want to? Imagine wanting to go to Mexico and canceling because you are afraid what the media and some crazy fans (not implying you are crazy) may feel and think. At what point does he ask for permission from the fans to go out during the season?

Sick.
