i’ve always wondered why it’s closed all the time? i get the windows behind the end zones but does the roof really affect anything? other than the obvious such as rain.

it’s supposed to be 55 @ game time. texas stadium flashbacks on sunday.

texas stadium was an indoor stadium but with that big hole in the roof it would get cold in there. especially during high school football games. the moms would have apple cider for everyone. i miss that aspect of our home field.

Yes I remember it would get very cold in that stadium. Especially if there was a north wind that would creep in there. We had a late playoff game there that I attended my sophomore year. I believe it was in the 30s or 40s. I had on about 3 layers that game. I miss the atmosphere of that stadium for high school games. This new one just isn't the same.

i would guess that it might be slightly louder with the roof closed

Great memories.
I remember being in Texas Stadium in 1993 when Haltom High played Abilene Cooper in the regionals. Haltom got completely smoked. It was super cold in there but the hot coco was glorious. Kelvin Garmon was on that team (7th rd pick of the Cowboys). There was also a tailback named Justin Blackmon...that dude was a beast, too.

Thanks for the quick trip down memory lane, I remember watching my (future) high school team play at Texas Stadium in the playofffs and it was freaking cold in there....Dang, now I’m gonna spend the next 15 minutes reminiscing about 1989....

About freaking time, as little as they open that place, it's been a complete waste of money.
