Rookie Defensive Players

This may end up being the greatest draft class in franchise history.

Greater than the 1964 draft that gave us 3 HOFers.

Greater than the 1975 "Dirty Dozen" draft.

Greater than the Parcells 2005 "3-4" draft.

Easy big fella.

While the early returns are promising, there are many, many years to go before that all plays out.

(And don't overlook the '89 Draft)

I liked Golston all along but I can't believe he's playing this well with zero training camp or preseason snaps, and only a couple of padded practices and one game.

And Osa is a big hit already. Huge to find what looks like a quality 3 tech in the 3rd round.

Surely you know these days you’re only supposed to consider recent years when determining “best ever”

I thought Golston was a bad pick. So far, he's playing really well--and with such little practice time. Looking very good so far.

I like Osa just as much as Parsons.
If Golston, Bohanna and Cox can turn into legit rotational players this season excellent because that's a 3rd, 6th n 4th contributing.

At CB, you have Wright n Joseph...now if one of the guys can make a push to challenge opposite Diggs around Nov/Dec my goodness.

Osa, Micah, Bo n Golston are in the lineup to stay from the look of things, and I feel Jabril Cox is the next one to pop if he can get some snaps.

I didn’t say we haven’t had good drafts, but better than the ones you mentioned?
Well, we don't know until it's over, i will concede that.

Let me rephrase.

This draft , I believe, has impacted the following season more than any other. That is to say, rookie contributions may exceed those of any previous season.

Can anyone recall a year when the rookies contributed more for their teams?

The season isn't even one fourth completed and we have almost an entire defensive line of rookies with sacks. This is just teh beginning, Our rookie CB's have yet to contribute.

In one offseason, it seems, the Cowboys have successfully fixed the two most glaring weaknesses in their defense. That is and turnovers

Of the Dirty Dozen, six had sustained careers of six years or more. There were two offensive linemen, three LB's and one DT. Two rookies started 3 or more games

Taking another look at the 2005 draft, six had sustained careers of six years or more. there were three defensive linemen, two linebackers and a RB. Three of those rookies started 3 or more games.

Looking at this current rookie crop, two rookies have started 3 or more games a quarter of the way through the season. I project at least one more starter from this years draft. So, it may be early but all indications are, it's a relevant conversation.

I certainly can't remember a year when a rookie class dominated a squad in the way this year's defensive line is being manned.
