Video: Rookie RB Jaydon Blue

I like Jaydon, liked him before the draft, went exactly in where I thought he would. That saying I hope next year because it sure won't be a free agent, I hope they draft an all-around RB that compliments with him well that is a 1A not a 2A like Blue is. And yes there is an astronomical chance Mafah can be at least a temp starter that helps bridge that.

But the RB situation is slightly better than last year.

Excited to see him in action. Hard to really tell anything from workout videos but his feet do look quick and fluid.

...nice to see him getting work in. Personally, I'm excited for the guy.

But pads n helmet, adds another facet to the game. Will see how it goes.

I'm on the short list of fans who like our RB's going into this season.
I think Williams is the starter and could have a great season, if he can stay healthy.
I think Blue has the chance to be J Gibbs like for us. He's explosive and can run routes too.
I think Mafah has some a chance to be a bell cow. He has the power, vision and some moves.
I think Sanders is a solid vet back up. Bit of a tweener that can do anything OK.
I think Deuce is probably on his way out but gives them a back up to Blue for camp.
I think Luepke is going to be relegated to be just a blocker/ST guy, if he makes the team.

Always hard to tell with these buried on the depth chart seldom used backs at these loaded schools. Kid could be all world and just needed an opportunity for all we know. Terrell Davis was that guy once.

I agree with all that except one thing,

I will put some of my enthusiasm on hold because we need to see it in games we need to know the offensive line is going to be working the new scheme, but I am excited to see all that you listed along with our offensive line coach and our offensive coordinator along with our new identity coming from BS the culture, whatever you want to call it the energy coming out of these practices and camps..

I don't believe it's height as far as what these offensive coaches are planning for the run game now can they get it executed That will be something we need to see on the field but these guys do have a creative background in opening holes and having the offensive line running Plays that actually can help the quarterback and especially the running game...

I want to see it come together on the field, but I am definitely looking forward to this season more than I was last as far as I think there's a lot more talent on this team than people are giving them credit for the whole 7.5 games over under is ridiculous for the cowboys predictors in Vegas, they can all suck it... :muttley:

I believe they will end up in the end being the one to punch you know Thunder and lightning it may not be explosive as far as putting up Pro Bowl numbers, but I think as a group I think Mafah has the upside to be a Marian Barber type but at worst he's just Rico with more power.... I don't think he's going to be worse than Rico...

I mean if Ricos first three years he did nothing he had one good contract year, but I believe Mafah is probably that guy that Rico was last year, if the offensive line comes together and they truly do have a good run scheme planned... starts with this new coaching staff...

And that's why also I don't think blue is that far apart from Tony Pollard the way Pollard was used behind Zeke the first 3 seasons I think we could get that out of him easily but it is again up to this offensive line the blocking schemes the play calling I mean it needs to come together..

I mean that's important for all teams but if you're don't have a dynamic running back you definitely got to get that straight just like at the end of the last year the reason Rico was successful they figured out how to get the best out of our OL , I mean it was too little too late but it shows that if we can do that coming out of the gate all year committing to the run game I think we'll be just fine..

I think this running back room is going to be fine, cause this offensive line is going to be fine.Blue is going to be an excellent player and Mafah is going to surprise a lot of people .

The main reason he went in 5 was his size. But he can still put on 10 lbs of muscle and be lightning fast.

Sounds crazy but he reminds me of Tony Dorsett. From a pass catching standpoint, the way he can run routes like a wr, and the gliding elite speed. If he can solve his fumbling issues, and learn to pass block, he can be a big help to us. He won't ever be TD, who is, but he can have many moments where he will remind us of him. He's a nice option to have. He's versatile. He can run between the tackles as long as you don't have him taking the lionshare of carries. I want Williams and Mafah for that. They can be the hammers, and Blue can be the finishing nails. Lol. Close out games with his speed. We have options now.

Hoping for an upgrade with Blue.
Not tall, but tha gives him leverage.
I dunna see him as an around the end type of runner, strictly between the tackles.

I was thinking the same thing the other day that Blue reminded me of Tony Dorsett.I remember when Dorsett would catch a screen pass and have good blocking on the play. Those were exciting plays Tom Landry had Dallas running some well executed screens, and Jaydon Blue has the speed to run these type plays. When Tyler Booker pulls and is blocking down field and Blue gets loose on a screen and takes it to the house, it will be a thing of beauty just like when Dorsett did it years ago.
