During Goodell PC a reporter asked:
"Yesterday at the gridiron greats there were about 20 HOF's there and Gail Sayers pretty passionately talked about the games history and that thinks todays players dont appreciate it all. I wonder if you consider having the Rookie Symposium in Canton so all these players can learn something about the game.

Goodell: " I feel that was Michael Irvins idea, David, and its a great idea. He mentionted to me last August at the HOF, wouldn't it be great if all of our young players coming into the league could understand the rich tradition and history and the people that helped build that game before they came into the league, and I agree. We are looking to see if we can do that, there are some logisitics that are difficult to deal with. So I dont know if we will be able to accomplish it this year. In the short term we are looking at alternatives that may require rookies to come in and spend a day at the HOF, so they can understand better what led to this opprotunity they are about to engage in. I think that is a terric idea."

I think that it was a great idea. I also like how the reporter tried to give credit for the idea to Sayers lol. Good idea Irvin, and it sounds like they are going to make it happen in the near future. I think that this will be great for the young players because I do feel that they dont understand the history and tradition of the NFL and why they are getting this opprotunity.

The Rookie Symposium has previously been held in Southern California

Some of the old timers need to come in and talk to them about the money and injuries so they don't blow it on cars and women too. You basically have kids earning millions but have no knowledge of the value or the price paid before them...
