i've always liked hearing rookie progress reports from around the league.

Sure, it's just camp and preseason so far, but I thought we could get the thread rolling.

Feel free to post any news or highlights (or lowlights) of various rookies.

I'll start with Christian McCaffery.

They seem to really love the guy in Carolina.

Rave reviews from Pro Bowl linebackers Luke Keachly and Thomas Davis--who think hes really something special.

Then Jon Stewert came out yesterday and says he thinks he cannot be covered one on one...and is a star in the making.

Something to look forward to watchinh anyway.

Charger rookie WR Mike Williams won't practice all summer due to a bad back. Most likely will start season on PUP. Chargers hoping rest will fix it.
Seahawk rookie DE Malik McDowell, their top pick at #35, was in a car accident two weeks ago and might not play all year.
Bears rookie QB Trubisky had trouble executing a QB snap without fumbling.

Eagle pick Derrick Barnett is impressing everyone in camp, going up against Jason Peters and Lane Johnson a few times. Him and Peters have stayed a hour past camp closing time for a few days so Barnett can work on a new inside spin move. The kid looks legit, and teams that needed a DE but passed on him might be very sorry they passed.

Donnell Pumphrey has a first burst of speed that leave defenders in the dust. Gets to the edge quick but defenders can arm tackle the little guy. If he can build up more power leg strength he will take Sproles place next year, as Sproles has said that this will be his last year. DC Jim Schwartz already comparing him Sproles, saying that they are very similar in the way they burst and run the open field.

Cowboys would've taken Barnett if had dropped to them.

I just read that James Conner, the RB from the University of Pittsburgh and drafted by the Steelers. He is impressing sp well Steelers fans are talking about trading Bell. Conner is the RB you may have heard of because of his lymphoma cancer.
He is leading all rookies and near the top of all NFL players in jersey sales since draft day.

Conner was doing well. But, I think I read he got injured and has his arm in a sling for now. Don't know if it is day-to-day or longer.

other RBs

Dalvin Cook is looking great so far in Minnesota. Many are saying when Latavious Murray comes back from injury Cook may have locked up the top spot.
We'll know when it stars for real

I assume the RB that'll go nuts will be Fournette in Tennessee, though it sounds like Cincy is also thrilled with Mixon.

Yeah.... Fournette in Tennessee would be nuts. Jacksonville might protest that, though.

;)

I think Cook is going to a monster in this league. He has Marshal Faulk type skills.
