Swaim I think they moved up for expecting Hanna to move on in FA this season. They'd have wanted three TEs familiar with the blocking requirements on the roster this year no matter what. People freak out about it because they don't bother to think it through far enough. The Escobar injury changed that. Now it's probably Escober who better look out. Hanna took the TE2 extension.
And I know he's older, so it's a fashionable thing to say, but Witten hasn't really lost a step. And if he had, I'm not sure it'd matter.
