Ross Verba for RT Tackle?

I know he is a bit of a head case but all lineman are. He is available and is a pretty good player. He demanded more money in Cleveland and then demanded to be released. Cleveland gave the guy his wish and no one has come knocking. He was due 3 million this year. He is another left tackle however. Any thoughts?

I was thinking the same thing...for insurance purposes but I didn't realize he was a head case. Leave him sitting on the couch. We are getting rid of head cases not signing them.

I dunno. Walking away from 3 million. I also heard he gave back this years bonus money......I'm thinking the dude doesn't want to play football.

He was with Green Bay originally and was then traded to Cleveland. He was very good at Green Bay. He was very dissapointed to be traded and wanted out of Cleveland asap. He wants to play but has a very high opinion of his worth. Thats the problem. He may be realizing he isn't worth what he thinks and take a cut to go somewhere to rebuild his stature.

It all comes down to what BP thinks this team is..........if he thinks we can make a legit run now...sign the best RT available even if it costs some. If we are playing to win, but he still thinks we are a year away, then go with the kids.....

If you were a head coach this is a tough situation....think about it. Go for it now...or maybe reality hits and we experience the rookies for the following year, or at least find out if we need to draft high next year or FA for RT....

Usually it's the most solid family-man type that makes the best OLs its about group dynamics vs. individual skills and teamwork vs. individual mano y mano competition.
