So I was looking at the Cowboys web site and by my count there are 79 players on the roster. That is counting the 8 draft picks, the Practice Squad, and Injured Reserve. It also doesn't remove any of our Free Agents.

We go to Camp with 80 players and we have not yet signed any UDFAs and Free Agency has not started yet.

This got me to thinking again about moves that are coming. Which of course once again causes me to get pissed off at the lockout. Call me a junkie but I like the UDFA period. We're being robbed of it by this crap.

If you look at the IR and Draft Picks alone there is a chance for very tangible improvement for this team. Here are some of our IR and Draft picks and who on the 2010 roster they might be replacing.

Dez Bryant..........................................Jesse Holley
Dwayne Harris......................................Manuel Johnson or Teddy Williams
Tony Romo..........................................Chris Griesen
AOA...................................................Danny McCray (PS?)
John Phillps.........................................Martin Rucker
Tyron Smith........................................Alex Barron (Marc Colombo)
Bruce Carter........................................Kenwin Cummings
David Arkin.........................................Leonard Davis
DeMarco Murray..................................Lonyae Miller
Shaun Chapas....................................Chris Gronkowski

Jesse Holley........................................Sam Hurd

Edit: On special teams

Don't think arkin will replace bigg this year but holland possibly can. To be honest I think with our new strength coach and replacing colombo bigg can rebound.

I don't know if Choice will be gone or not. I just don't have a good feel for that. My guess is he will be here.

in John Clay

Highly doubtful they sign Clay. He doesnt play special teams.

I think McCray makes the team based on special teams ability alone.

What position is Jeremy Parnell playing for us, OT or DE?

If he plays OT, then I could see him put on the PS or cut, and we keep Barron instead.

I don't think we're offering Barron anything. He's essentially gone. Parnell may end up on the PS again. He's an interesting project. He just needs to get bigger and stronger then learn the technique. He's got the feet and athleticism to be a LT.

You are right.;) Dude is a STs stud, he would make it over a lot of the bottom 53 like Jesse Holley another STs player.

Considering how long we've kept terrible linemen simply because they were experienced, I'd actually be a little surprised to see Barron not get offered anything when the team can actually talk to players again.

Unlike the endless list of scrub linemen we've kept way past their expiration dates, at least Barron has a lot of starting experience. Not very good experience, but a lot of experience nonetheless.

If it were up to me personally, yes, I'd keep Parnell over Barron.

you know this how ?

Don Banks wrote an article on him about a week or so ago. I posted on the draft zone. If you cant find it, go to CNNSI and look up Don Banks columns.

I have no knowledge of what they're going to do with Barron but I do know they haven't talked to him about another contract. I think that says something.

I think they like Parnells athleticism and feet. He moves very well. He has long arms. He just needs to get bigger and stronger and learn the position. He's a long term project. If they can do better then I'm all for it.
