After yesterday's game there is alot to not like about this team and rightfully so.

Without strictly bashing Dak, which he fully deserves today btw, I'm starting to think this teams best chance for success is to build in the mold of someone like Buffalo.

Dak has had his share of good games for us but in all honesty he is not the guy I see shouldering the load and carrying this team. I'm not saying he has never done it, I'm saying he is not Brady, Rodgers, or Brady.

I think Dak plays his heart out, he lowers his shoulder to try and run a guy over when hes got a bad shoulder, he will jump across the line and get flipped the way he did against Seattle last year for a shot to win the game. It's not something every guy is going to do at his position, but he has had enough team to let figure out the fundamentals of the position and when things get bad? His mechanics go out the window. He sails balls high, he skips balls, he doesnt feel pressure coming... just some of the things weve seen. I really wanted Dak to succeed and I'm not saying he cant start for someone but for us to pay him 35+ a year is a bad idea.

If we can continue to build a run game that can be depended on with two backs like Pollard and Zeke and then maybe drafting a guy in the mold of Josh Allen would be tbe better idea. Im not saying Allen specifically but a guy who comes cheap on a rookie contract, can use his legs to get you yards, and just do enough to keep us in the game. Continue to spend on the defensive side of the ball (Safety, DT, CB) and let a cheap QB manage the game as our running game is the main part of the offense. Dak is way too expensive if he cant be Brees or Rodgers and could cripple us.

I say build defense, run the ball, and develop another young QB who comes cheap. It worked when we got Dak and Zeke on rookie deals and I think he could be replicated with another QB.

What do you guys think?

Need to get couple of DTs like Haloti Nagata and slot WR like Beasley.

Also fix the Special Teams entirely.

I think you want us to have a top 10 defense that creates turnovers and that's just not the case. We also have the worst special teams unit in the league. This is a team game. This team does not help dak out at all. Between the average rushing attack this year and his wrs and tes leading the league in drops. Defense probably bottom 5 in takeaways. Defense bottom 10 in efficiency. Special teams missing fgs and poor kick coverage. Dak has at least been decent and put is in position to win the games more often than not with pretty much no help from the TEAM. Our offense also has the worst average starting field position in the league too. With stats like these the fact we are even looking at a possible playoff birth is probably because of the QB tbh.

Yes. I say we spend the entire draft besides 1st round on defense. Tag Cooper (sadly), keep Gallup, and maybe keep Cobb is he stays for cheap, if not, put Cedrick Wilson or Devin Smith there in place for him. We need to build this defense. It’s the only way we’ll Win it all. If we get a new QB that’s good, we’ll be even better.

My post goes along with what your saying If you reread it. I agree with the special teams and defense being problems. This is exactly why I am asking if it really makes sense to pay a QB 35 mill a year to give us a shot to be in it. I am not pointing the finger as Dak being the sole reason for our failures but basically saying he isnt going to carry the team on his own.

Wanting a top ten defense and d that doesnt sit near the bottoms in takeaways? Yea I do want that. Thing is I think paying Dak is going to prevent us from getting players capable of getting us there. Looking at where we are now and then adding his salary to the mix, only further pushes us from adding the help on defense we need.

I'm not looking at the Bills and saying without Dak we are that team. I'm simply saying that model of a cheap QB and then spending your resources on the defense may lead to better long term success then paying a QB and losing help in other places.

Every team is built in their own way based off salary, drafting, philosophy. I think paying Dak doesnt put us in the right direction for long term success.

I like the offense just need to tweak it by having Jarwin start as TE #1 and drafting a slot WR similar to Edelman or Beasley with speed.
This will open up the seam routes with Jarwin while pulling defenders side to side with slot WR. This will open up the running game on more consistent bases for Zeke.

On defense Dallas need to draft & get FA DTs smilar to Haloti Nagat that can control the trench. If the DTs commands double team inside that means it leaves the tackles on 1v1 or requires a TE or RB to pass protect in turn limiting their offense.

Special teams, we need a solid punter and gunners that can tackle and lead block.

No one can carry a team by themselves. Tom Brady has had a top 10 defense for 20 years. Aaron Rodgers couldn't carry his scrub of a defense last year. So you don't want to pay one of the better consistent performers on the team? Doesn't make sense.

No one can do it alone, i agree. I just worry about paying a guy top 3 salary when he isnt as good as the others in that class.

I see a lot of fixing the defense threads. Our offense scored 9 points and that’s where most of our money is. Yikes

Ideally if you don’t have an elite QB you need to augment your team with a terrific defense that can force turnovers and shorten the field. Also doesn’t hurt to have a above average special teams play. Look at the Ravens they won two titles with Trent Dilfer and Joe Flacco as QB. Now Dak Prescott is not the second coming of Montana, but I think we can safely say that he is better than Dilfer and on par with Flacco.

I’m ok keeping Dak as long as these things happen:

1. Experienced hard *** as HC who will enforce discipline and accountability

2. Innovative and aggressive OC who believes in running the ball

3. Aggressive DC

4. Revamp and focus on ST with a real PR/KR

5. Starting quality 1T DT and 3T

7. Top FS

8. Top quality TE. Jarwin can be back up

other needs can follow
