After yesterday's game there is alot to not like about this team and rightfully so.
Without strictly bashing Dak, which he fully deserves today btw, I'm starting to think this teams best chance for success is to build in the mold of someone like Buffalo.
Dak has had his share of good games for us but in all honesty he is not the guy I see shouldering the load and carrying this team. I'm not saying he has never done it, I'm saying he is not Brady, Rodgers, or Brady.
I think Dak plays his heart out, he lowers his shoulder to try and run a guy over when hes got a bad shoulder, he will jump across the line and get flipped the way he did against Seattle last year for a shot to win the game. It's not something every guy is going to do at his position, but he has had enough team to let figure out the fundamentals of the position and when things get bad? His mechanics go out the window. He sails balls high, he skips balls, he doesnt feel pressure coming... just some of the things weve seen. I really wanted Dak to succeed and I'm not saying he cant start for someone but for us to pay him 35+ a year is a bad idea.
If we can continue to build a run game that can be depended on with two backs like Pollard and Zeke and then maybe drafting a guy in the mold of Josh Allen would be tbe better idea. Im not saying Allen specifically but a guy who comes cheap on a rookie contract, can use his legs to get you yards, and just do enough to keep us in the game. Continue to spend on the defensive side of the ball (Safety, DT, CB) and let a cheap QB manage the game as our running game is the main part of the offense. Dak is way too expensive if he cant be Brees or Rodgers and could cripple us.
I say build defense, run the ball, and develop another young QB who comes cheap. It worked when we got Dak and Zeke on rookie deals and I think he could be replicated with another QB.
What do you guys think?
