Who do you think that was on last years roster (no PS) doesn't make it this year?

My list of guys I think have no chance of making the roster:
  • Curtis Johnson (Between him and Steve Octavien, Octavien plays better ST I believe. Either way, still a 5th OLB making the ST play more important)
  • Sam Hurd (If we keep a 6th WR, I think it will be Holley or Hudgins. besides after 5 years, it's time ot churn dead weight)
  • Stephen Hodge (though he was actually on IR, the guy is always injured and can't get on the field)
  • Pat McQuistan (Sam Young just replaced him)
  • Pat Watkins (three different guys we acquired this offseason could replace him and all three play ST)

On the bubble guys:
  • Junior Siavii (This is a big may be based on Josh Brent)

I was thinking about putting Travis Bright on here, but I'm not so sure right now with the injury to Koiser and the fact that I have to see more Phil Costa.

Im starting to think we will cut Stephen McGee and put him on the practice squad.

I think McGee is progressing nicely but I don't think we are in danger of any other team picking him up if we release him.

Who is going to be QB 3?

If McGee gets cut, I think he never sees the light of day on the PS and I think the Cowboys know this.

Don't see that happening at all.
Think you might be throwing an against the odds prediction out there hoping it sticks.

This team does not tend to get rid of mid to high level draft picks so quickly unless it is due to injury.

Yeah I just heard Broadus on the Radio say the guys he has talked to said there is a 90% chance he is on the roster so im probably wrong.

Yeah but they guys who told hiim about McGee are the same ones who told him about Jason Williams. :lmao:

Phillips says he is keeping the best 53 and right now McGee isn't one of them. If they do cut McGee then Crayton becomes the emergency QB.

No way Phillips cuts Jason Williams unless he just falls apart the next two games.

Trades are also going to happen in the next two weeks so it will be interesting.

I am on the side of those that say McGee is cut and MAKES the PS. He hasn't shown enough to make anyone interested yet. Cutting Nichols today makes it look more likely that McGee is cut on the final cut but he has two games to redeem himself.

Good thread.

We all make our 53 and PS and chew our nails.

But dudes cut elsewhere on Aug. 31 will wind up here.

Dudes cut Sept. 4 will wind up here.

To everything, churn churn churn, as Roger McGuinn would say.

I've only seen the HOF game and I thought McGee looked better than Kitna. Did McGee stink it up against Oakland?

My thoughts on your list.
  • Octavien makes it IMO, and CuJo is unfortunately out.
  • I too think Hurd is gone. I like Hudgins better than Holley, but Holly might make it because of Sp. Teams.
  • I think you're correct (unfortunately) about Hodge. Maybe they IR him and carry him one more season.
  • Pat McQuistan is gone.
  • I see Pat Watkins behind both Church and McCray, by a large margin.
On the bubble guys:
  • Junior Siavii likely will lose his battle with the promising Brent. It is a shame for Junior because he really is OK behind Ratliff. The team has found better than just OK now though.
  • I think Costa makes the 53.
Nice post man.

I think Bright failing to win the team over at center puts him squarely on the bubble. Costa moving ahead of him in that regard likely means that Bright's best shot is a return to the practice squad.

It will be interesting to see if Dallas picks up someone off of another teams practice squad.
