Roster cut down?

Is this the first year where they will have just one massive final roster cutdown? I read that there will be over a 1000 players cut loose at the same time after the last preseason game. This is going to make the waiver wire process crazy when all these names hit the street. It is going to be overwhelming but sort of fun.

won't make too much of a difference for us, we are extremely unlikely to claim anyone.

Don't we claim people every year? It is not like we are stacked where no one would help us. I would be surprised if we do not end up with someone on our roster who was not with us during preseason.

I like the staggered cuts but it made the last pre-season game tough

Don't we claim people every year? It is not like we are stacked where no one would help us. I would be surprised if we do not end up with someone on our roster who was not with us during preseason.

Couple of things work against us claiming someone. For starters, our position on the waiver wire is what, 27th? So that more than likely eliminates any rookie that we liked, who gets cut. Then, there's also the improved talent at each position. Sure if a good enough QB became available, we'd likely put in a claim, but I doubt we claim one. I doubt we claim a RB, FB, WR or TE. I can't see us claiming an o-linemen, if anything, I can see some of the linemen we cut, getting claimed (still unlikely though imo).

On defense last year, we claimed Ryan Davis, and only Ryan Davis and proceeded to not use him much. And I just think our depth there is much better this year. I guess I could see us claiming a DT, but odds are we won't claim a LB and we certainly won't claim a DB.

I would think if there is someone they really want they may try to make a trade for them they may have some players they are going to cut they some other team may be interested in
