Believe it or not we are less than 2 weeks away from the 1st cuts of camp on Aug 30th, where we go from 90 to 75, and just a few days later on Sept 3rd we have to get down to 53. Whats important to note is that.......Based on the record from last season, the Cowboys have the 4th claiming priority this year. Basically, this means that if we’re interested in players for the 53-man roster that have been waived by other teams, we have priority over 28 other organizations that might also want that player. This priority spans until the trade deadline.

rest of the article here, good read.

Let's be honest, we aren't actually going to sign a veteran that can help the D....that would make too much sense, and the front office has shown an unwillingness to add veterans. We'll be holding onto that #4 waiver spot for a while

Dallas may not be willing to go after aging veterans who will cost more, but they have shown a willingness every year to scour eveyone's roster cuts and see if anyone is going overlooked. Will McClay is a huge part of that, and I expect that #4 waiver spot to be very valuable to him.

McClay is going to have a lot of fun with this. I expect a revolving door the first couple of weeks after final cuts.

I'm hoping Saints' Davis Tull is a cut. He is a highly decorated small school player with crazy athleticism. Coming off a sore shoulder so not quite 100%.

Think a more explosive Tapper, WITH CONSISTENT ELITE PRODUCTION.

If the Pats cut TE AJ Derby, cut Swaim and go get him.
He's not a great blocker though.

I think we look at roster spots like niche roles. We want X player who can do X thing to occupy specific roles within the scheme.

Sometimes people don't understand that reality when what seems like good talent isn't signed.
